I've been wondering for a while now why making money is so important to some of the bigger mobsters in the game. My bank account is tiny compared to many of you, but if I stopped making money it would still last me a LONG time. So what about making cash in this game is appealing to many of you? Just curious.

In times of war you can blow through a billion pretty fast... Especially the times people used the low influence tactic!

Also, one strategy can be to break an opponent money wise, making it very hard to plant turf and run for example. Can't do much when you are so broke that you have to sell weapons.

And if you are hopping across heavily populated areas, it's not unreasonable to spend hundreds of millions building them up, tearing them down, and building them up again.

In war I will equip both offensive and defensive weapons and go seriously in the red.

At higher turf counts, mob counts, and influence certain costs increase.
Healing in the ER is a million-ish
Planting a turf can cost up to 1.3 Billion (with a B)
Upkeep on weapons can get up around 80 million an hour.
Yet turf still only make 53.8k or whatever they make collecting protection, and you still win the same amount in fights and from missions.
So certain costs ramp up considerably, while income stays constant.
For most people these really aren't factors.
But to answer the OP's question, making money becomes important when fighting, losing a lot of turf and replacing them.

It is way too easy to burn through millions, billions or even trillions in no time at all - if my very basic math is correct, chucky has burnt through between 5 and 7 TRILLION DOLLARS IN LITTLE OVER A MONTH - In fact if he carries on at his current rate he will be broke in about 3 weeks !!!
Me personally, I burnt though about 70 billion in 10 months and I've be broke ever since.
All I can say is be careful with your cash, you won't appreciate it until it's gone !!!
