First and foremost, I am a reading and math specialist on an elementary campus. I have been on this same campus for 11 or 12 years now. In my spare time, I'm a competitive shooter.
Long story short, yesterday morning, I am getting my classroom ready for students and preparing for the last day before Thanksgiving break.
I get a phone call to get to the front of school right away. I get down there and we grab a 1st grader who is literally running from us. I taught the older brother years ago and I know their history and what they are capable of. So, after we catch the little turd, we find a gun on the little bastard.
I immediately identify that it is an air soft pistol the size of one of my several .380's. It looks real as shit and is loaded with bb's. I dismantled the weapon and we dealt with him behind closed doors.
I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Don't worry about searching the media for the story. It as handled and there will be no visit to the White House.

Best way to handle this 👍👍🍺

You get an entire week off for thanksgiving? 😱

Glad you caught the little "turd bastard" before he had a chance to do anything. Hopefully he learned his lesson and kudos for not involving the lets blow it outta proportion media.

For anyone interested, this is what we took off of him.

Now imagine being a law enforcement officer, having someone (regardless of age) turn on you with that in their hand. You have a split second to decide what you're looking at & what the persons intention is.
This kid is damn lucky he got by you and not someone else. Might have ended up with a very different outcome for all involved. -
According to the afore mentioned media, there are now more guns than people, in the USA.
-
Nice job handling the situation. Hopefully this kid gets turned around before the next incident is a lot worse. Parents shouldn't allow a 1st grader access to even a BB gun. And if it looks that real they should treat it as real around small children and keep it locked away when not supervising. They will be the first ones grieving and filing a lawsuit when the kid gets shot by a cop.

Glad no one was hurt. My little brother has had the police called on him several times by concerned people thinking his air soft gun is a real AK-47. The thing looks damn near identical to a real one. It's metal and is actually pretty heavy. The only difference in looks between his air soft gun and a real AK is the Orange around the muzzle.

We used to take our hunting rifles to school all the time.

What he said -
Sounds like a common sense reasonable way to handle it. Nice work Mason you're an valued asset to your work place and the community at large.

Oh that's brilliant
Freemason is still the good guy sorting out the potential bad guys and noobs. Even in real life!
This game is not the same without you
But it's good to know that you haven't changed 😀👍🏻 -
Good job FreeMason. I hope he gets straightened out before he gets old enough to get his hands on something more than just BB's. I assume the parents are now in the loop and hopefully not rewarding the little turd.

Years ago when I had the older brother, I had to get restraint training. The reason for it, he tried to hang himself in front of me with a tie while we were in the office. I would often have to restrain him when he would try to hurt himself with a pair of scissors. I also removed fireworks and .22 caliber spent shell casings from him quite often.
