Uber's great indeed! I don't talk much to taxi drivers. After telling 'em my destination, I simply sit back and hope they got it right.
Every Uber driver has an interesting story, and sometimes I exit with a business card. I also like that PayPal takes care of the $$$.

Lol uber drivers are not legal licensed to do that stuff, they pull all the money out of the pocket of real workers who need to feed them kids..
Sad story some ppl still like uber

Driving people around isn't really a commodity that belongs to select, specialized individuals. A better service for less money will always win out.
Kinda like all these YouTube channels putting hard working media producers out on the street with their starving kids. "Those bastards with their low infrastructure overhead and lack of a broadcasting license! Taking jobs from real media moguls with babies on their teats!"

^ That has nothing to do with your job. 😒
The idea of Uber kind of freaks me out. Don't you guys worry about running into psychos - stalkers, serial killers, etc.?
I can never remember the name of it either. Usually all I can think of is Ucab or Utaxi. 😂 Luckily remembering the name hasn't been important.

@Mystery: Have you ever ridden in a Yellow Cab in New York? Ever see 'Taxi Driver' with Robert De Niro? Those are the guys that freak me out. Lol. Jk Jk.
I use Uber all the time when I fly around the country. The app is great. Easy to see who is near and when they are turning into the driveway. You see a picture of them. Their car. Their ratings. And if you don't like the looks of them or their ratings, you can pass and get the next one.
I've met many honest, hard working people who appreciate the opportunity to earn some extra money for their families.
Only thing that I haven't liked recently was when they added the additional charges for taking more time to get you to your destination. Same thing cabs do, but when I'm in a hurry I am sure to say so.
No money changes hands -- it's all done through the app, so you don't have to swipe a credit card or fumble to pay the fare. Just get out. Tap a button on the app and away you go.
Pretty convenient and competitively priced service.

I did ride in a couple yellow cabs when I went to NY years ago. Mostly I remember it was freezing outside, so the cabs had the heat cranked all the way up. I'd end up feeling sick from the huge difference in temperature. I even tried rolling the window partway down but it didn't help.
That is such an old show - I can't remember if I've actually seen any episodes.
"If you don't like the looks of them or their ratings you can pass and get the next one." Great...so if they're picking you up at home & then they get word that you passed on them, now you have an insulted driver that knows where you live. 😖

Actually, I've never passed on anybody. The drivers that don't get top ratings are no longer allowed to drive for uber so they work really hard to give 5-Star service.
I was going to explain all that in my first post but hit the 1000 char limit. 😜
-
And actually, they don't get word until you accept them. So they never know you passed on them in the first place.
They are just driving around, blissfully ignorant of the fact that people are not liking their reviews, I suppose.

Friend of mine has a majority stake in the ownership of uber! I was informed about uber a few yes back! I never thought it would catch on like it has!
-
Everyone I know who uses Uber loves it. Where I live, an affluent neighborhood 8 miles south of a medium city, taxis won't even come!
An Uber driver will be "at my house" a few doors down the street in less than 10 minutes.
The total cost averages 1/3 less than taxis, and there's no hassle. I hate asking to use a CC, and see the taxi driver's expression. Some say the swiper is broken, some don't refill their empty receipt paper. Uber's receipt is emailed and itemized.
The coolest thing is watching the little car rolling down the street on the map. Soon they'll have a little yellow hand waving at ya!
