Anyone on here a body builder or anything? I need some suggestions/opinions on supplements such as whey protein and creatine. I've heard they sometimes have really bad side effects but I have also seen great results from using them. I am just trying to bulk up and have been eating everything that I can before I go off to college. I'm not worried if I also put fat on in the process. I've been lifting for about a year now and have gotten good results without using supplements but I think that they could give me a good boost but I'm not sure about how healthy they are and I don't want to spend too much cash. Depending on how good your genetics are is how well you'll be built. After a year of hard lifting you'll be just about as built as you're going to get naturally. If you want to go further you'll need steroids. If you get fat easily you'll build muscle easily, if you're skinny there's not a lot you can do, and if you're naturally athletic you'll get gains no matter how you work out.

Don't ask for weight training advise on a game forum. Try bodybuilding.com forums etc.

I guess mainly I was just wondering if whey was even a good thing to put in your body. I have heard that it's bad for you because it's made from animals (cows) and is something that is not normally found/created in the human body. I also heard because of this that it causes great stress on your kidneys and can cause a need for a kidney transplant at an early age. I just don't want to pump myself full of stuff that will be harmful in the long run.

Whey protein hasn't negatively affected me and I've been using it along with a solid workout for two years, I just use the generic Walmart shit too, in my opinion, the simpler te better. But then again, that's probably why I'm stuck at weighing only 190lbs . You didn't ask about actual work out routines in your post but feel free to pm me!

I never used shakes or supplements though. I always thought it was a waste of money (also my body rejected most of the shakes) -

Whey is just cow milk extract. I did add about 15lbs of muscle using it with an intense workout regimen awhile back. If you do purchase, I suggest getting chocolate flavor. Everything else tastes like hot garbage.
If you want the protein without the whey, grilled/baked chicken breasts and rice or quinoa. Stay away from the jacked up supplements. Many have been recalled/banned for having a compound that is similar to methamphetamines.

Bodybuilding supplements are lies. A well-rounded diet and exercise plan can do the trick.
