LAX

I was just minding my own business turfing away until i got the idea that i wanted to use my airplane ticket to get to lax but i quickly saw there was not a single square inch available to build a turf. Is there a backstory behind that and are there other airports like it?

Yeah don't go turfing in that area, the locals are not very friendly 🐝🐝
Yes sure there's a few long stories about the history (but I know nothing 🙈🙉🙊😉)
If you really want to go there find someone with lots of airport turf and ask them very nicely if they wouldn't mind letting you in - just don't sell your soul to get in there, there's much nicer and more friendly places to visit 😜

Most airports in California were blocked by locals back when the tickets first came out and the whole East Coast Vs West Coast thing happened and most fights took place in all the other Midwest airports.

Not exactly true. The first airport closure was by Jim dirt I believe, and started well after tickets came out. He gradually closed an airport over time, just to see if he could. He posted about it a couple years ago. Most airports in California were blocked by locals back when the tickets first came out and the whole East Coast Vs West Coast thing happened and most fights took place in all the other Midwest airports.

PAX closed Columbus pretty early on and The Aussies closed Sydney to keep out tourists.

Sydney was the first one I remember being "closed" but as many of us have learned over the years, nothing is truly closed. We're all prone to human error, pick up and iPad and zoom into the airports, trace around them, you will find holes. Not gigantic gaps mind you but slivers of space that are plantablePAX closed Columbus pretty early on and The Aussies closed Sydney to keep out tourists.

When the first airports opened, Houston's had the best defense. It wouldn't look like much compared to today's airports, but back then it was pretty special. We weren't trying to keep people out, but we wanted to be prepared, just in case. We toyed with the idea of trying to close it, but 1) no one had that much turf to spare, 2) we didn't want to go over limit, and 3) we decided that we didn't really want to keep everyone out.
