Anyone in the military
Forums › General Discussion › Anyone in the military-
im thinking about joining. Been thinking about it for a long time. And want to know want the vets experience in each branch. I'm thinking Air Force but I've heard the military is down sizing especially the Air Force. If I can't get in then maybe the navy. Originally I was thinking about army but heard a lot of bad things with it. I've always wanted to join the army but after hearing the bad things about it I switch to Air Force. I've talked to the recruiter and did all te paper work all I have to do is lose some weight and get fit for bmt after that I can talk to the recruiters again and probable get in. If not I'll talk to the navy. So want are the experience of the vets. Want was the day like the schedule? The rules? The good and the bad days? I talked to some of my friends who were in the military and they gave me their experience. I just need more opinions from others to make my decision. Thank you

Think about your long term goals. Hard to do if you and young and immature. I was not ready for college and dropped out my second semester. Joined the Air Force and learned the discipline and lack of attention to detail I was missing. Lived in Europe for a few years, traveled to North Africa and the Middle East. It worked for me, other results may vary. Good luck

I ship for bootcamp Jan 4th for the Marines. You've considered three branches as of yet, and you didn't really mention what you want to do in those branches. Like what do you want to do for four to six years? Are you trying to do something Badass like and be a seebee, PJ or fly an aircraft? Or something more down to earth/more easily attainable?

ull definitely see better deployments in the air force or navy than in the army haha. but it really all depends on what u wanna do

What kind of job are you looking for? What do you want to get out of it? Every branch has some distinct appeal and benefit to it, so you gave to think about that. However, if the AF doesn't want you, you can't necessarily settle for the Navy. Only way I could get in the Navy was because I had a waiver to join the AF.

Yes. Long term goals. What do you want to do with your life? Do you want to earn a comfortable living? Do you want to go to college? But even if you don't know what you want to do, the military is a great time killer until you do know.
My general recommendation is to take all the training and education you can get from the military while minimizing your time in. It's extremely valuable in real life, which is where the money is.

I'm of the mindset that it's the politicians that create wars so they can fight them. Only they will fight them sitting round a table with each other. I won't be joining any military.

75% of the people I work with are vets. Each one had a very different route but they all had an overall positive experience and not one of them says they regret being in the military. They all say they would have done things differently, but that's just human nature.
If I could do it all over again I'd do an rotc program with whichever branch would give me the best deal. get my college paid for plus collect a paycheck while in school. Then go do my time as an officer and come out debt free with a college education and 4 years of quality work experience.

Brown says it's a great time killer ?? I say it's a great killer.Go get a job or get back to education to get a job.
The forces are a war machine (fact) you might get a career out of it or you might lose your life.
As Barry says let the politicians go and fight there own wars. You stay at home and look after your family don't go away and kill someone else's

👆🏼 what i did. great way to pay for college, just wish i started freshman year. army has both active duty and reserve/national guard scholarships, not sure about other branches but they probably have something similar. depending on how expensive the school is, the scholarship may not cover the full cost, but in the case of my school (and probably many schools that have rotc programs) the school gives u a grant to cover the difference. paid college and leadership development, best decision i made 👍🏼If I could do it all over again I'd do an rotc program with whichever branch would give me the best deal. get my college paid for plus collect a paycheck while in school. You get a big enlistment bonus, if you want to stay you get a massive reenlistment bonus, and if you want to get out you are extremely employable, and not just in the nuclear field. -

Yeah, Rome. When the spoiled citizens decided they didn't like military service and sent conscripts instead, the end was near.
Don't be bitch.
