we did use the maps. Infintely. It wasn't cheating per se but it was an exploitation. So did speed cheat too? Thought you guys used the police maps? Why apologize after the fact, you knew it was wrong then did it now your trying to look righteous? I'm lost on this one!!
-
I think that was a bad idea belial. it was nicks fault that happened not ours. There was no post telling us if it was a glitch or not... we wernt to know.
nick messed up on this one, it would be wrong to punish us for something we didn't understand!
-
And I did this originally because getting to Vegas is the only way I can stay in the game. Short of direct cheating I'd have probably some anything to get there. That is wrong. Now there are many players out there that used the same exploit. Nick has said he won't reverse it. But Ive deoded and was hoping some other players would be with me. That it was wrong amd that gain in that fashion isn't really gain at all. If I need Vegas that bad I'll get it the hard way or just quit first

Belial it's 150 miles ffs 2 hours drive !!! It's hardly mount everest . Stop bleating on and on and on , you won't be made a saint for tearing a few turf down . If you can't afford a car get a bus or a taxi . I'll cone over there and give u a piggyback if u stop whining
-
good job B. that shows good character, forget about the idiots in this thread, do what u feel is right

I agree with JmanX. I think you're making a mistake in doing so, and could possibly regret it later.I think it's stupid to tear down the turfs personally. I wouldn't unless nick said I had to.
I tore down my turfs (in Reno and San Bernadino) and later, Nick told me I could keep them.
Belial, your intentions may have been "noble" but you will regret your decision. -
Come ON! "Getting to Vegas is the only way I can stay in the game"???
Sorry belial, but that IS a bit overboard. Like I said, it's not even that great. It's great for income, but that doesn't matter when you've got almost 1000 turfs. LV is LESS of a warzone than California. Thats the same thing I told putz a couple months before he came to Vegas. This city is not the be all end all of the game. I'm not sure why you even have that impression. Just as many (if not more) significant events have happened in LA or San Francisco.

Have to agree. If you would have came out during the Vegas war, you would have maybe a week's worth of excitement. Then you would be right back to where you started.
You need to go someplace where you have made no friends and have no allies.

So a HS student uses a password to write something stupid and turns himself in and he's torn a new one, then a couple players think they were committing monitary theft and continue doing so and they get respect for turning themselves in. Stupid! And if it wasn't theft, then why teardown? The people who did it are the ones who say they love the game so much, so what's that say? So did you guys buy the amount of loot packs to repay nicks loses?
-
The HS kid didn't get torn a new one because he apologized. He got tore a new one because he bitched about the penalty he received.
And what he did was a far greater crime. That kind of stunt ruins lives.
-
And he never apologized. He did acknowledge that he knew it wasn't right. But that was it. he never even returned to the thread after his first post.
-
If belial was there during the Great Vegas War I would have reduced turfs and it would have continued even longer.

agreed, theft is still a crime regardless. Carrying through with something you know is wrong, shows flaws in character! Nicks thread says after 1st use the effects wear off not stop, so how would you know how long it lasts? I think asking others to follow in his footsteps n quit game thing is a joke personally! To do that I would have to rip Nick off, brag in forum about my accomplishment then teardown turf. Just saying, still don't see what they did wrong hopping. The HS kid didn't get torn a new one because he apologized. He got tore a new one because he bitched about the penalty he received.

Well as far as I know, there is only man to ever walk the planet without flawing his character. Everyone makes mistakes.

Acknowledging and correcting those mistakes are what keeps character in tact and even builds it.

I didn't either. But I was coming for you. Vegas just happened to be where you were.

Not trying to start anything up again-just saying. Had you been somewhere in CA or AZ, that would have been the summer hot spot, and no one would be talking any Vegas nonsense.

very true, the HS kid is young and will shit the bed more, how old is Belial? How long did B contemplate his cheatbefoe pulling down his bellaclava? I've committed crimes in my life once upon a time, and only apologized when caught. I don't care either way, but pack your bags B your going on a guilt trip!lolAcknowledging and correcting those mistakes are what keeps character in tact and even builds it.

I am very impressed Belial! It's hard to find people in this world that will both admit they were wrong & try to correct their actions, so to speak. I have no doubt you can get to Vegas using the maps the way they were intended. It may take a little longer, but now you know it can be done.
I imagine most of the people that say you shouldn't tear them down are trying to justify their own actions or what they would have done if they had had a map.
There is no reason for anyone to say Vegas isn't worth it. That is the current goal Belial has chosen for himself. Whether he just wants to be in another state, or he sees it as a gateway out of Cali, it doesn't matter. That is his goal & there is no reason he shouldn't go for it.
One good thing that came from all this - I actually saw you & Putz in agreement about something! (I should probably take a screenshot!) :)

Thanks for being the type of player and person to do this. Many watch what you do and how you do it. You did a good thing today. Stay in the game...there are many objectives yet to conquer.Hey guys. You all know me and know what I did today. Most of you know how much I needed to be in a new area and I saw my chance. Yay! Finally a way to not have to retire. Finally something in the game for me. But that's no excuse for exploiting. Effective emediately I'm tearing down the Vegas turf and will spend the next few days destroying my I'll gotten gains. I encourage everyone else to do the same

I know I didn't use the maps to get anywhere, and I do have one I could have used if I wanted to. I had (and still have) no reason to use it or take advantage, any hopping I do is done normally. I simply think that there was a glitchy new feature that was added, it wasn't 100% clear that it wasn't normal, and Belial didn't do anything wrong in taking advantage (same with speeddoctor). No one cheated and hacked the game, in these two cases no one else was affected by it either.I imagine most of the people that say you shouldn't tear them down are trying to justify their own actions or what they would have done if they had had a map.
And lastly, the reason for the rampant use in the first place is because of a buggy geocoder. So because the geocoder is at time faulty is anyone who hops around a dead zone exploiting the map? And obvious extreme comparison but still, the whole reaction to this has been blown way out.

I'm not saying you did jmanx. In fact, if people had simply used them repeatedly in a deadspot, I could understand it more. But there were people using them repeatedly, not because they couldn't hop otherwise, but because it allowed them to hop much farther than normal. Did the people that were confused about "one time use only" send feedback to try to clarify? No, because they might have gotten an answer they didn't want. Maybe I'm generalizing too much, but it reminds me of the comment I saw in blindluck's thread - "It's only illegal if you're caught." I was horrified by that. Whether someone is caught or not is irrelevant; getting away with something doesn't make it legal, nor are rules made to be broken.

Thanks to those that give support. Almost done deleting the turf. Should be done later today
-
The teardown is done. Nothing remains of the exploited hop
-
Bilial, if it helps, it looks like nick fixed the union boss bug as well. Now the hop radius increases when you go to inf of 100. Didn't before.

Belial I meant...can't type ( am in real life ER at moment ... ICU actually)...
