Why do you need an alliance? You're fine on your own. Get to know the game. Get to know your neighbors. Get a feel for what you like and don't like about the game. Figure out your own style of game play versus the mentality of a certain alliance. Learn to stand on your own two feet and figure out your own way through some of the games pitfalls.
There's nothing wrong with being part of an alliance. There's also nothing wrong with not being part of an alliance. There are tons of ass hats in this game but there are just as many who are willing and able to help you out, guide you and show you the ropes as you go. You don't need to necessarily be part of an alliance to get help from some or all of them.
