After letting my hair grow for three years once...I started twisting sections with bees wax. My hair just has a light wave to it so, I had to work on it daily but ,after a few months, it started locking. I ended up with a kinda 'surfer dread' look. Fast foward to today and I've got 'almost' shoulder length hair but, ive decided to lock again. (I'd be doing it for spiritual but, non religious reasons.)
Any of y'all got locs? How many years have you been growing them? Any ideas on ways of going about it like, back-combing, free-form etc.? Dope Tam sites? Products? Thoughts?

What's it have to do with spirituality?

Back combing works well for wavy long hair, of you're of the lighter skinned human archetype. My ex wife had some mean dreads for about 4 years.
There is a dry shampoo you should look into. And if they ever get wet, dry them out thoroughly to prevent moldy smell.
Good luck.

"Bootleg" Floyd...for me it will be on a personal note. Just the daily routine that it will take to do what im trying to achieve, is a kind of ritual. In the process I won't just be changing my looks...the locks would actually be an extension of the changes that, I have grown to make within myself.

Right on man.

+ E +...Cool...Yeah, I've been checking out some videos and I think that the 'back-combing' would be a good way for me to get it started. As it gets longer I'll just twist them daily with some type of hair putty, tar or bees wax. Thats cool about your ladies 4 yr. old locks, it takes alot of patience & commitment on the maintenance side. I was 3 years into it and I felt bummed out the day after I cut them. I'll look into the shampoo, thanks.
