I recently came across this story about the 'Ghost Army' from WWII, and how the U.S. fooled Hitler with rubber made Tanks and Planes. From the air, it looked like a real convoy, but the Nazi's had no idea there were men carrying the rubber tanks and planes.

The U.S. gov enlisted actors and artists as well as Bell Labs engineers to make their ghost army come to life, and the plan worked.

This was brilliant.

Never heard of that one, that's a very interesting tactic👍 cool one at it as well

fooled the nazis good. even after the normandy landing they held units in reserve because they thought it was a diversion and the real invasion was yet to come.

The operation was backed up with false radio communications and intercepted transmissions...

This was actually the idea behind the scene in Starwars when the Rebel Alliance used multiple squadron names for single fighters to provide the illusion of greater numbers.
