What's your take on the low cost 500mm or the 1000+mm lenses?

Bower, Rokinon, Vivitar & Opteka to name a few. What's your opinion?

Refractors. They are low cost for good reason. But if you like smeary, dark, almost colorless images and have the cash, they do what they do.

I think you'd be better off buying a higher quality normal lens and cropping.

Almost about a 10 thousand dollar difference between high end and low end for the same distance. I have a 200mm from Nikon and they ain't cheap. I was thinking a low end lens can probably have good results with a bit of ISO and shutter speed. Can't rely to much on customer ratings online. Never know who does those.
