Honestly, the term "Assault Rifle" is used to make it scary and have some guns banned legislatively. It has no real meaning other than banning scary looking guns THAT ARE NO MORE OR LESS LEATHAL than other guns are.

That's their official response. The truth is, Turkey is using it as an excuse to kill ' unwanted' kurds in /around their country. Sadly, the kurds and the Peshmergah are doing more to keep ISIS from spreading than any other force atm.
