Rides to strangers
Forums › General Discussion › Rides to strangers-
very recently I gave a stranger a ride. I was at a restaurant/ bar playing pool with some friends and this guy starts talking to us. After a while he ask me for a ride so I gave him one. Nothing happened, I wasn't attacked or anything. I didn't see him as a threat. My friends are wondering why I gave him a ride. I simply said that I was being nice and lending a helping hand. Now I'm thinking how stupid I am for giving him a ride. I was taught stranger danger growing up, but this guy needed a ride and I thought why not help him. I want to ask the TW community am I wrong for doing that. What's your opinion and if you have any stories please share if you want.

ass gas or grass nobody rides for free

I guess it all depends on what you have to lose and what the stranger has to gain.
If you're a pretty young lady driving out in the middle of nowhere you probably shouldn't give the big bad mean looking stranger a ride.
If you just withdrew your life savings from the bank and are on your way to start your new dream business with 2million in cash on you, you probably shouldn't be giving any strangers a ride.
If you're a middle aged, married with kids, poor sob like me Al Bundy..... You can give strangers rides all day long. You don't have anything to lose.

I had a cousin get killed by a hitchhiker when we were both teenagers. No rides for strangers

It's not wrong to give rides to hitch hikers. Your at a 50% risk knowing it may or may not go in your favor. It's all about your safety. In the end it's a judgement call.

In that situation, I'd say if you want to give him a ride do it, but take his picture and tell him you are texting it to a friend just to be safe.
Really, he's at risk, too. Who's to say you won't stab him, rob him, claim rape/self defense, whatever?
I have given strangers rides, and I have hitched rides. But I'm a guy and sometimes I really don't give a shit. We all gotta die sometime, and besides, it's good to help people out.

Yeah help a fellow person never know when your going to get stuck and need a ride!
are you physcho killer?
If so I kinda see your point in not picking up people -
I recently gave a woman a ride who said she was escaping from an abusive relationship and needed to get to the women's shelter. Nothing wrong with helping people who are less fortunate than you.

I'll turn this one around a bit. One night after dropping my GF (way outt in the netherworld), I ran out of gas on the way home. It was 12/27 close to midnight, and I was freezing.
Two guys in a black Monte Carlo stopped and offered me a ride. I jumped in the back seat, only to find two large amd dark black guys staring at me. They knew I was scared shitless. I asked if the could take me to the gas station about 5 miles up this iolatesd road. They grinned and said sure! When we got to the gas station, they offered to drive me back. I declined, and they maintained their grins. I remained frightened, they saw that and appreciated my "comfort" and "trust." They drove away, and I had 5 miles in sub-zero weather to drive back.
