Welcome to the TTNews Alliance Power Rankings, vol. 3.
It has been over 6 months since the last power rankings issue was published by the Turf Tales News. Since that time we have seen the dismantling of one alliance and the introduction of several new ones. Without further delay, please find enclosed Vol. 3 of the TTNews Power Rankings.

Meet the Rating Committee:
The rating committee was open to anyone interested. This third iteration of the rating committee brought back some familiar faces, while also adding some well known players into the mix. The following players comprised the 3rd power ranking committee: Saba (Masshole), Toughguy (CAPO), Bigmann (Manns), Yogi (Nomad), Diminsher (M@dFam), Kushy (Solo), Luca (Solo), Killer Whale (Solo), Micky (The Legion), Bassmaster (CAPO) Black (CAPO) Eddshot (Solo), Themis (WAR), and Fallacy (M.inc),

The Scoring System
Each committee member was asked to create a ranking list. Each list ranked the alliances in order from first to last. A weighted score was assigned to each position. First place rankings receiving the highest score, last place receiving the lowest. The lists were then tabulated and added together, resulting in an overall score for each of the alliances. This overall score was then divided by the number of times the alliance was voted for - thus creating an average TTNews Aggregate score (TTNews AS). It goes without saying, the average score determined the overall power rankings.

Just outside the Top 10
The Turf Wars alliance landscape is expanding. It's great to see a number of new alliances entering the scene and adding competition to the power ranking. TTNews recognizes the following alliances that narrowly missed the top 10 spots:
BOA (un-ranked)
West Side Syndicate (WSS) (un-ranked)
We Are Renegades (WAR)
The Legion (TL)
Department of Noobs (DON)
MTC

#10: Nomads (TTNews AS: 2.58)
Previously #10
Despite rumors, the Nomads alliance continues to quietly live on. Small membership, slow growth, and being on the wrong side of several war campaigns puts the Nomads at #10 of this iteration of the TTNews Power Rankings.
-
#9: Only The Elite (OTE) (TTNews AS: 3.6)
Previously Unranked
OTE was formed out of the ashes of NWR. OTE includes a number of players that date back to The Commission Alliance and have experience fighting big wars. The full scope and details of OTE remain unknown, but watch for this alliance to move up the rankings in future issues.
-
#8: M@DFAM (TTNews AS: 4.66)
Previously #8
M@Dfam maintains their 8th place position, choosing to remain in the shadows and pick battles that make sense for them. There is a large unknown factor with M@Dfam, although the membership is estimated to be relatively the same as it has been over the last year. Committee members noted the ability of M@dfam to dig in and fight hard when provoked. Stable income and allies within the Mann family were noted as big plusses for M@Dfam.
-
#7: Reign in Hell (RIH) (TTNews AS: 5.83)
Previously #9
RIH has gained a few members here and there, but also suffered the loss of their most notorious member, Midnite. Perhaps not the most reliable or team oriented player, Midnite could be a single handed wrecking ball, burning towns and cities in a day. RIH has fought CAPO for years on end, without any notable victories or gaining ground on the map. While they continue to soldier on, it will be interesting to see if RIH can redefine themselves in the "post midnite era".
-
#6: Renegades (TTNews AS: 6.83)
Previously #7
The Renegades move from 7th to 6thin this round of the TTNews Power Rankings. Primarily formed out of remnants from TWFC, the Renegades have the ability to take a licken but keep on ticken. Although BAIC keeps them from gaining any substantial gains on the map, the Renegades have successfully established income areas on remote islands. The Renegades struggle to recruit new players and primarily rely on old veterans to carry on. While this provides a solid core with experience, history has proven that alliances that donāt grow tend to eventually fade away.
-
#5: Massholes (TTNews AS: 7.5)
Previously #5
The Massholes retained their 5thplace position, having been relatively silent over the past 6 months. The Massholes continue to quietly invite high profile players into the ranks, but at the same time have seen some of their long serving members slide into inactivity. More than any other alliance in the game, the Massholes have the player base and political connections to shake up the game at any point in time. However, motivation and coordination is often a challenge for them, given other commitments and gameplay objectives. This group is a true wildcard, with outsiders having little knowledge of the form, function or the intention of the alliance.

#4: Murder Inc. (M.inc) (TTNews AS: 8.75) - written be Luca
Previously #6
Minc jumps two spots from number 6 to number 4 in the current ratings after flexing their muscles a bit by providing some heavy lifting in the battle with NWR while at the same time looking to expand their political network. While still a new group, Minc is a tight knit group of vets who are hard-nosed and battle tested. In this regard they have been compared to BAIC and have also chosen a slow growth approach to recruiting. They have a strong combination of snipers, rangers and mid-size mobs, but lack the stable of big mob players that BAIC, Stars and CAPO contain. This group of players certainly has gained the respect of the community for their strong map play combined with their ability to leave the hostilities of the game in the game. Time will tell if Minc can crack the top three but the gap between the top three and the rest of the field is quite large at present, but their ascent to the top as the best of the rest is notable.

Tied #2: CAPO (TTNews AS: 10.75)
Previously #3
CAPO continues to be one of TW most respected and well-rounded alliances. CAPO fields a roster of experienced veterans of all sizes with a history of fighting as a close knit and organized unit. Paired with a friendly attitude, strong political connections and high Intel make CAPO one of the most reasonable and approachable alliances in the game. However, history has proven that those who double cross CAPO are in for a rough ride and can expect relentless pursuit on all fronts. CAPOās connection with the DON alliance has provided a steady stream of new players looking to advance into alliance play. The DON influx paired with continual recruitment makes CAPO arguably the largest alliance in terms of player base. The rating committee had mixed feelings on the departure of several CAPO players late last year, with some of the opinion that CAPO has already replaced those bodies and others still noting the loss.
-
Tied #2: Turf Wars Stars (TTNews AS: 10.75)
Previously #2
The Turf Wars Stars narrowly missed top spot in the previous Power Rankings by just 1 vote. While the Stars maintained their second place finish in this round, they now share the position with CAPO. Fresh off the heels of a successful campaign against NWR, the Stars showed the community once again what they do best ā fighting wars. The Stars have continued to successfully recruit high quality players, making big slashes with Adrenaline Junkie as well as players acquired through the NWR war. The Stars have tremendous map coverage with over limit players bolstered by a core of high quality fighting vets. The rating committee had mixed opinions on the Stars use of allies for large scale wars. Some felt this was a sign of weakness, while others thought it was a sign of a well-developed political network. One thing is for sure, the Stars have started, fought and finished more wars than any other alliance and that cannot be overlooked.
-
#1: BAIC (TTNews AS: 11.33)
Previously #1
BAIC retains their title as Turf Wars top alliance in this latest round of the TTN Power Rankings. Committee members praised BAIC for their quality over quantity recruitment style, low attrition rates, and their long history as one of the games oldest alliances. These traits equate to a very stable group of players that have successfully maintained control over vast stretches of the map, that may have started in California, but has now spread worldwide. What the alliance lacks in numbers is overcome by enthusiasm for the game, delivering some of the best punchers, hoppers, and fighters around. There were mixed opinions on the impact of the loss of ally NWR. Some argued that BAIC is unaffected, having picked up select NWR players and maintaining connections with the rest. Others felt that NWR supplied high quality rangers and V starters to BAIC, which may have moved on to other groups. Regardless BAIC scored a recorded high, easily retaining the top spot.
