Caught a cottonmouth in my backyard today. It is a venomous snake. My dogs were trying to get at it. I released it in a field down my road. I know some people kill snakes when they see them. How do y'all deal with snakes? Shoot 'em? Wack 'em on the head? Or catch and release?

Britain wouldn't cope wiv snakes, we can't even handle 2inch of snow lol

Once went canping with a few friends who were scouts and we found that while we were out fishing, a rattlesnake had gotten into out tent. We got it outside and smashed its head with a large rock. Ended up trying cooked rattlesnake for the first time. Tastes like chicken🐔

Run the other way.

I have two dogs so if it's in my yard, it's gonna die by a shovel chopping it's head off. If I'd be out on a hike in the woods I'll let it go but I'm gonna get the hell away from it.
-
I yell "holy crap a snake" and let the caretaker sort it.
-
Non venomous ones I usually try to catch. I love snakes!!
-
Eat em
-
Depends. If it's venomous kill it, if not throw it out in the woods.

Up here in canada only snake ive seen was in the zoo 👍
Our biggest issue is coyotes and gophers -
I'm in South Georgia see lots of cottonmouth's and diamond back rattlers we just grab em by the back of the head and then cut it off with a knife then if it's a rattler skin them and keep the rattle

when i was a kid i caught alot of snakes for fun and i would release them. now as an adult or bigger kid, i look at it like this... if i release it now it can still bite me when i'm not expecting it, or my dog or my kids. even in the woods it could get an innocent kid walking trails or playing in the woods. i'd rather kill it while i had the chance.
-
I just carry my pistol if I'm walking in the woods or fishing and if I see that it's poisonous I'll shoot it. It I can't tell I'll shoot it just in case
-
Caught a snake in my grandfather's pigeon coup once, grabbed a lopper and took care of it.
-
All snakes die, unless it's somehow endangered, then I call someone.
-
Keep it as a pet🐍

I usually don't kill them, if it can be avoided...
Snake in a backyard? Sure.
Snake in the tent? absolutely. But you that kill them out in the woods simply because they're a snake? The hells wrong with you. -_-
