To players with a lot of turf....

How do you decide which turfs to keep and which to tear down? If you base your decision on hourly income, what's your threshold? I've tore down all turfs that make less than 30K/hr. And on a related note, I have a "historical turf" that I capped that was created in oct of '09 that is only making 22k. Should I tear it down or keep it?

You have an October 7th turf.....

My average is 52k. I'd much rather those than than 30k.

Keep it :). The first major tear down I did, I took down everything under $18.7k (this was in the early days) & the second major tear down, I wiped out everything under $31k. Be careful not to accidentally take yourself out of an area if all of your turfs there are making lower amounts ofmoney.
(sorry, I'm kind of half asleep. I hope that made sense)

You really need to go city by city. Check the "Area" Leader board for each city. It will tell you how many turfs you have there.Be careful not to accidentally take yourself out of an area if all of your turfs there are making lower amounts of money.
A few of my capos only have 1-4 turfs with very low income so I just keep the minimum to maintain. Other cities that are crowded I've torn down anything making less than $40k.
KEEP ALL HISTORIC TURFS!! And of course any that have whatever sentimental value. I have a few of these that I'll hang on to whatever the income. -
I keep a few markers out there. "Safe houses" so to speak.
Other than that, I've been tearing down anything under 40k.
I'm a believer in not destroying historic turf, so I own none of it.

I removed myself from the outer islands during a liquored up, adrenalin fueled tear down in the midst of a war.
OOOPS!!
But it's nothing to get back to those spots.

Also helps to check inactives when you are taking more turfs. I got a day 2 by accident and almost took capo away from a day 2 or 3 capo in the process...just checked out of curiosity at the last minute.
So, is a week 1 capoship considered historical and worth protecting even if they are inactive?

My keep v. tear down is primarily based on price...30k being that threshold. In times of war I'm well aquainted with my upkeep and pretty readily slash anything under 52.3k to free up turf and get mobile. I, too, tend to keep alternating outposts where I can dump turf wads if things really go to hell. Lately, I've been hopping quite a bit and now have turf strung all over everywhere which is obviously not a long-term solution. That turf is largely worthless in the grand scheme of things except to get from point A to point B...then the unneccessary ones will be pruned. I did garner one historic turf on the last gas day which is almost unfortunate given my penchant for tearing things down. I'm afraid I'll need a post-it permanently affixed to my phone to remember that one. Oh, and I also try to also try to keep turfs that are on the furthest reaches of my areas of coverage (N,S,E,W).

It's only historic if they are actively playing and able to defend it.
IMO.
