Brown is doing his part to keep the historic codes from being dropped to the site. I've informed him multiple times of a batch of historic codes and he's removed them. The only thing that would help would be if no historic codes were able to be duplicated on the new codes section, but I'm guessing that isn't an option or it would have already been done.At the same time however, it stops benefiting people who are actually contributing good codes. Plus I am sure even without top 10 people will still spam random codes lol

You have a fair point. First I don't care because I'm a top contributor. That said, my thought process is most vets who punch have switched to mob.codes now and have added their code. If this was possible, it could be set where no historic codes could be added to the site from this day forward.Da Prodigy wrote:

Makes no difference to me. I do the inviting. Currently, there are 458 members on mob.codes. 457 of which are already in your mob. A big majority of your invites are likely from code lists. You could probably punch for 5 minutes and get more adds than you'll see incoming from mob.codes this year, unless of course the site is half historic codes. I guess arguing this point to a non puncher makes about as much sense as teats on a bull though. Watch the number of members on the site over the coming months and let me know if you see a huge spike. Truth is, TW has very few dedicated punchers, maybe 400-500, and that's never going to change.Turf🐑Warrior wrote:

Some people actually go out and find new codes, and instead of just punching them, they also add them to the site. They in turn get more invites, because their code gets bumped for contributing, and new players are sent in to punch on the site..........Watch the number of members on the site over the coming months and let me know if you see a huge spike. Truth is, TW has very few dedicated punchers, maybe 400-500, and that's never going to change.
Use Mr. Dunn as an example of why code punching sites are a waste of time.
Or did I misunderstand you?

There's a new option in prefs, by the way, that you may have missed. Codes that exist in the "historic" list can be filtered out when viewing the main list. People that already punched all the ICM codes don't have to worry so much about old codes getting added to the new database anymore.

I think you misunderstood. Code sites are awesome, thank you for running one. My point is, the number of invites one expects to receive as a result of their code on your site pales in comparison to the number of adds one receives from actually punching.Or did I misunderstand you?
If all 458 members punched each of the 2000+ codes, 2000+ people get 458 invites at best. Meanwhile, each puncher could expect 2000+ adds. Watering down new codes with old codes may mean more invites for non punchers, but I doubt it, and fewer adds for a puncher.
I disagree the top contributor list contributes any number of meaningful invites for the contributor. The only scenario I see a contributor gaining a worthwhile amount of invites from the top contributor list is if they are a non puncher. I will still argue that a non puncher seeking out codes to add is far less productive than punching.
Lastly, a huge thank you to those contributing fresh codes.
-
Sorry about that, I really did misunderstand.
The leaderboard was there at first because I didn't get to the bump system yet. It was kind of a stepping stone. The leaderboard used to be on the code list page, but I moved it because bumping replaced it.
I've left it there for now because I want to give the top contributors some recognition, and not so much that I expect a lot of invites for them.
I added the "bad code" check box to help with spammers. I also watch for contributors that have a pattern of old/bad codes and help the code removal system along.
Once codes are removed, the leaderboard updates automatically.
It's all a balance of carrot and stick.
I AM listening to suggestions though, and will adjust as necessary.

I appreciate all the work put into the site and I enter all the Temp codes and "most" of the daily codes but for me that return is low. Thanks BN! Slow steady punching!!! 👍🐢

Brown Note. I know you have the "no historic" option, but can you also add the reverse. Any codes that are listed under the "punch" section are not listed in the historic section. Makes it easier for noobs like me to enter fewer repeats when going through all the historic codes. I am 3k into the historical and already come across numerous examples in this situation.

Another request....a way to change our name similar to that of changing our code.

It would be nice, but this one is going into the "maybe later" category. It's a major change to the database structure and php code which I can't afford to do at the moment.Another request....a way to change our name similar to that of changing our code.

No problem, it's all just minor requests. I did notice the reverse historical working already. THANKS

Anyone who registered could get their own code displayed with the new codes (not filtered out.) So if noobs come on and punches a few codes, at least they have s good chance of being accepted because the player is active enough to create an account.
Otherwise, the historic codes have such a pitiful return, a noob could punch thousands and get a dozen adds (because in the time it takes him to punch thousands, the daily puncher's codes are in the historical will have slready invited the noob)
For those of us who punched ICM, I'll happilly punch 500 codes that are already in my mob, to be able to dial in on the coupke dozen new players added daily. Otherwise, I'm punching 70k codes, 99% of whom have either already accepted when they were around to do so, invited me when I was a noob, or didn't and won't.
The historic codes need to be filtered because the noobs will quit punching if they get 1 add per 200 codes punched, and the regular long term punchers already punched them.
-
Yes, mine and others are "historic", but the most effective way to get a hint that mine might accept is the fact that I'm active enough to have created an account 5+ years later than the first historic codes were discovered.
Yeah, dunn and atla got some invites by being on the top of the list. Maybe someone reset, or declined their initial invite. And yeah, over 3-5 years it adds up.
But to roger's point, all of the big mobs got their by punching. Punching a lot, and doing so in an efficient manner (punching new codes within a couple days of them being discovered and shared)
The site should cater to the fanatical punchers. The people who want others to punch their code can post it on walls, invite forum, etc.

Just registered, thanks for your time puttin in to make this website Brown Note👍🏼

Hearing Atla and having seen enough D'bags posting a bunch of random codes, I'm starting to think we would be better off without the top contributor list. It'd probably prevent at least some of the contributors who just post random words.

So... Say goodbye to the top contributors list.
However, keep in mind there's another carrot in the user code bumps. New users will see all the contributor's codes before anything else, sorted by most recent contribution.
Bump.

So on my home Wi-Fi, 4g and lte, the site works perfect. But with the school wifi, I get an error saying ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE and the webpage wont load. Its not a network filter because we get a different screen when going to a blocked site.

All the more reason to say "Thanks" again to you, dunn and brown for all your efforts that have been and are certainly more helpful to us than you.
