Dog training tips? Potty training...

My old dog passed a couple of weeks ago so the woman and I went and bought 2 new beagle puppies...old beagle was very good with potty training to go outside. It's been so long since I had to train another dog let alone 2 at the same time. Anyone have any good tricks? Also they are being crate trained as we can't trust them not to chew the house up yet at night..suggestions welcomed!

I had two dogs before one passed away early on. Likewise I had them both in a crate but they still couldn't hold themselves since they were more of inside type dogs. About a month or two when they got a feel of the whole house they started getting better as I would go to the backyard and play with them until they did their business. I also took them on small walks and stopped frequently around trees and small bushes (later he picked his favorites after familiarizing himself by constant the constant walks). More time progressed until about 6 months later my dog would now wait by the door (sometimes even scratch it) to go outside. He's ecstatic whenever I show him his leash. Long story short, it's more of their instinct that develops over time rather than training, but a bit of scolding never hurts.

Thanks nexx, did you keep a collar on them all the time or only put it on when they would go out. Currently we do not collar them while in the house...and both don't seem to get the lease yet as they think it is a pull toy. But that just may be an over time thing...

I didn't put a collar on him until about 3 months when we started walking him. Before that it was backyard training mostly. The collar kinda irritated their neck after being tight on all day so they wouldn't come loose, so I figured to take it off while I was home. The leash wasn't well received at first. Whenever I would try to walk my dog he would try pulling away from it trying to run on walks, but after months of having it on and setting a pace, he now knows where to go and how long to walk around for. I didn't mention this before but my dog's a Mini Lab/ Shih-Tzu mix.

Tricks is another story, but a short one. My dog sleeps all day yet rarely eats, but all he'll eat is meat. He refuses any type of dog food. I usually give him 5 thin slices of storebought ham every 3 hours or so as a snack. The only exercises he does now are the walks and some chasing around in the backyard. He also enjoys some tug-of-war with a few old stuffed animals he'a slowly mauled.

Yeah our pups have already mauled the stuffed snoopy we got them(missing leg and arm). Woman is going out today to get them a rope toy as we feel it will last a little longer then a day then the stuffed toys..

I adopted a 2 year old pit bull mix from a local rescue. Luckily, she had already had some training. So, I just took her out at certain times and she got used to going out at those times.

Here is a no fail trick.
1. Buy some piano wire and wrap it tightly around the dogs nuts.
2. Go to your local farm and garden store and buy a cattle prod and 5 "D" size batteries.
3. After you have wrapped the dogs nuts with the piano wire, nail it to the floor.
( You only need to do this to one of the dogs)..let the other one watch.
4. Now fill his water bowl and let him drink till he has to pee. He's not going anywhere due to the use of the piano wire.
5. As soon as he pee's turn on the cattle prod and tap his nuts....POW... He will be house broken...and as a side benefit he will be neutered saving you money to buy DON POINT for Brens 👍.
6.) the other dog having seen what just happened will also ( if he's smart)
Will be house broken.
7.) Finally return the cattle prod for a full refund, but before you've done that...DO NOT ever touch the prod with your tongue....no matter how much the wager from a friend may be....been there, done that 😁 -
I don't care if that is a joke. That's the stupidest goddamn thing I've heard some one say on here.

Wait, that's a joke?
Pm me if you need any piano wire, D batteries or a cattle prod for the next 28 days. And have some wee-wee pads to trade.

Having to clean up pee and poo is the worst, my mom knew this best. I'd recommend threatening to take away thier toys and or freedom to play with friends. Well, that's how my mom trained me at least

if it shits in your house rub its nose in it. same for the piss. its alot easier to train a dog than you think
