One foot or two?
Forums › General Discussion › One foot or two?-
My girlfriend and are arguing. I drive with two feet. Makes me feel more in control and that I have quicker response times. She says I'm retarded. I have a corvette and it just feels like I have more control over gas and braking. What's the TW opinion?

If she doesn't like the way you drive, then she doesn't have too. It's her choice to let it bother her.
-
Humm Corvette! Nice! do you have the shift controls on your wheel? I like how those make the automatic much more responsive! 🚗🚗🚕🚓🚓🚓 🐢
-
I prefer one foot, but I can see why people would want to use two. I don't have the coordination for it.
-
2 feet if its standard 1 auto. If you use two for auto you are weird lol
-
Unless you're a new driver or its manual you shouldn't be using both feet.
-
As long as you're comfortable you're fine. If this really bothers her, she needs to learn to not be so controlling about how someone else drives if it isn't affecting her safety.
That said, I've never heard of anyone driving and automatic with two feet. That is odd.

Old people use two feet. That's why they accelerate with brake lights lit up.
-
If you're racing your 'vette, 2 foot it. As you said, faster response times, more control.
If your just daily driving, terrible idea. You could be (ever so slightly) dragging your pads, increasing brake wear, decreasing mileage and - most importantly - DRIVING WITH YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS ON. pet peeve.
Ive been known to dive in front of brake-hangers and slow
down. If you want to use your brakes, i'll give you a reason! -

I'm guessing you don't know how to drive a stick.

I did not know they made corvettes with auto trans. That's cool. Anyways, I bought my first automatic when I was 26, so I use 1 foot to drive. In fact, I still try to clutch with the dead-pedal sometimes. I don't see anything wrong with left foot braking, but I don't think I'll ever do it unless I make a concerted effort to change my habits.
-
If you're a racer then two is probably almost instinct (and normal..), if you're an everyday driver then one because of slight brake drag.

Smack her and she will agree with you

I don't think I've ever met anyone that drives with two feet. Johnny Unknown up their has it pinned down. There's nothing more annoying than an excessive braker, that of which causes unneeded alarm.

Switch to standard n you'll get away with driving with 2 feet 😉
-
I have a standard that I obviously use two feet. The only thing I see that most people won't have a problem with is sometimes with left foot braking I hit the brake like it's the clutch. But I don't drive with my left foot hovering. I drive with it by the pedal. But if I hit the brake, my foot is already moving to it before my other foot is off the gas. There's no delay between gas and braking.

It's pretty crowded in there. The response time for a slap war is 10 times greater in a Corvette than a regular car.Smack her and she will agree with you
