TTNews Power Ranking (Vol. 2)
Forums āŗ General Discussion āŗ TTNews Power Ranking (Vol. 2)-
Welcome to the TTNews Alliance Power Rankings, vol. 2.
It has been close to 4 months since the first power rankings issue was published by the Turf Tales News. Since that time we have seen the dismantling of one alliance, and the introduction of several new ones. In response to some of the comments received from the previous power rankings, TTNews has made some changes to the power rankings process. The rating committee was expanded from 7 members to 12, increasing the sample size . In addition, the commentary for each alliance is drawn from the rating committee only, and will no longer feature "what TTNews said". I would like to send a special thanks to Saba for taking the time to stitch the commentary together into coherent alliance notes.

Meet the Rating Committee:
The rating committee was open to anyone interested. This second iteration of the rating committee brought back some familiar faces, while also adding some very well known players into the mix. The following players comprised the rating committee: Chucky Pancamo (BAIC), Saba (Masshole), Canine (Renegade), Duair (CAPO), Yogi (Nomad), Daisy (RIH), Ink (Solo), Black (CAPO), Covah AKA Hacov (Stars), Eddshot (Solo), Themis (WAR), and Fallacy (M.inc),

The Scoring System
Each committee member was asked create a ranking list. Each list rated the alliances in order from first to last. An alliance receiving a first place vote was assigned a score of 11, second place was given a score of 10 ..... all the way down to last place, receiving a score of 1. Thelists were then tabulated and added together, resulting in an overall score for each of the alliances. This overall score was then divided by the number of times the alliance was voted for - thus creating an average TTNews Aggregate score (TTNews AS). It goes without saying, the average score determined the overall power rankings.

TTNews Power Ratings, Issue 2
Number 1. BAIC (TTNews AS: 10.27)
Previously: #1
Top Mobs, Relentless, Tenacious, Tight Knit, Proud, Map Dominance, Intelligent Players. Members are not only self sufficient but are also willing to spend the money and time to go the extra mile for impact. BAIC focuses on growing their membership slowly, choosing to enlist like-minded and high quality players. Coalition with NWR and WSS gives BAIC additional fighting allies, income partners and political influence. Some view the fact that they have allied with so many other crews as a great show of diplomacy while others view it as a big hit to overall game/map play. No real leadership is both a positive and negative at times, but overall has proven to be a sustainable model for the Bay Area Income Chain.
-
Number 2. Turf Wars Stars (TTNews AS: 10.09)
Previously: #2
The Stars are a full-time fighting alliance, with the mob, brens, and experience to back them up. Like many alliances, the Stars have felt the effects of natural attrition, but the Stars continue to grow through new additions of players of all sizes. Solid map dominance by a number of over limit players give the Stars significant income streams in a war of attrition as well as control of many of the Airports open in Turfwars. The Turf Wars Stars are never ones to shy away from a fight, and as a result are often sought out by fighting players seeking a new alliance. Like Baic, Stars have players willing to spend in order to accomplish the task at hand. Unlike some of the other untagged alliances, Stars flash their tags and do so proudly, often using them like the rattle on a rattle snake to warn their opposition of the imminent danger that lies ahead.

Number 3: CAPO (TTNews AS: 9.64)
Previously # 3
CAPO was once a relatively small and peaceful alliance, operating in the shadows of the major fighting alliances. Those days are no more. Capable of high organization and coordinated attacks, CAPO has been a big player on the international war scene for several years, with no signs of slowing down. Some committee members questioned possible fragmentation within the alliance given the departure of several members, while others pointed to CAPOs continued growth and expansion. Recruiting both seasoned fighters as well as map active but relatively inexperienced players has allowed CAPO to continuously grow, train and foster bonds amongst members. Team work, map coverage and determination are all cornerstones of this group. As with many of the other alliances/groups in this poll, sometimes top tier players are sporadic on the map,and lack of consistency could be viewed by some as an issue.
-
Number 4: NWR (TTNews AS: 7.27)
Previously #5
Through a series of mergers and heavy recruiting, appearing to be almost indiscriminate at times, NWR has grown from a small group into a top tier alliance, with no signs of slowing down. Just recently, NWR successfully imported a significant contingent of NGC's fighting wing. A large membership base, Bren Counts, and Map Coverage, in addition to strong political ties with BAIC and WSS, make NWR a serious contender for continual advancement in the power rankings. Good mix of different sized players with some diversity in overall battle experience. While NWR has some excellent fighters, with the influx of so many new players, many have limited experience. If NWR's veterans can pass on their experience and the alliance can convert their size into fighting potential, NWR could become a Turfwars future powerhouse alliance.
-
Number 5: The Massholes (TTNews AS: 6.9)
Previously #4
Probably one of the more difficult groups for our judges to rank. acting more as a collective, Massholes live a life of unpredictability to everyone, including themselves at times. With mob size, experience, map coverage and financials, the group can quickly mobilize and make an immediate impact. Along with their unpredictability, inconsistency, waning interest and semi retirement have to be taken into account when rating the group as a whole. All of which have taken their toll and drop them several tiers from where they were at their pinnacle. Members have the ability to separate individually for side projects and not have it affect the group as a whole. What the Massholes lack in membership roster size, they make up for in pure quality of members. The Massholes are an elite syndicate, who's members often include high ranking individuals from other alliances, meaning taking a shot at a masshole could spiral into unexpected consequences.
-
Number 6: Murder Incorporated (TTNews AS: 5.9)
Previously: Unranked
Founded in late 2014, Murder Inc. is a combination of some previously solo players along with some former members of CAPO. Because the group is relatively new, there isnāt a lot of solid information available. Some of the things our committee did see was that Minc has some very experienced mid to high mid level mob members who are very eager to fight. While it may come across as the group trying to prove themselves, in reality their quick action and fight first mentality is more of their overall philosophy than anything else. The opinions were pretty much split down the middle. Some felt that some of the best fighters in CAPO had migrated to Minc and could very well be the next monster power. Others felt that due to the fact that the group was still so new and had such a small membership, they would not be able to accomplish much on their own at this point. All that being said, Minc still ranked 5th on the power rankings.
-
Number 7: Renegades / Sinners(TTNews AS: 4.66)
Previously: Unranked
Dedicated, Motivated, Experienced, Painās in the ass. Those are the things we heard over and over again on a consistent basis from almost every member of the committee. A relatively new group in its current incarnation, Renegades primarily consists of a few players from other defunct or floundering alliances. What they lack in members though, they more than make up for in mob count, game knowledge and willingness to go to any length to annoy the hell out of their chosen targets. After maxing brens and capture range at Christmas, the group has become even more of a challenge to deal with. Some feel that their delight in distasteful behavior will be their down fall in the end. Others are secretly (and not so secretly at times) cheering from the sideline as they continue to shake up the status quo that many feel TW has been stuck in for quite some time now.
-
Number 8: M@dfam (TTNews AS: 4.45)
Previously #6
M@dfam is another group in the list that has been around for quite some time but has gone through several transformations through mergers, disbanding and reformations. The current rendition of the group seems to be a smaller, leaner, more condensed version of what we've seen in the past. Building tax/income gardens has given the group a tremendous revenue stream which is always necessary for longbattles. While some still question their overall fighting ability and negotiation skills (the latter being a weak point in the past), previous experience and knowledge seem to have helped them pick and choose between joining the battles that make sense and avoided the ones that don't. This is another group that would be very valuable in a supporting role but questions remain on their ability to go it alone for a sustained period of time.
-
Number 9: Reign In Hell (TTNews AS: 3.8)
Previously #8
A relatively small but growing alliance, brought together through friendships and collective desires. Rather limited map presence and collective mob count are some of the major negatives in regards to this group. With rumours of the recent addition of Groucho to the group, both mob count and map coverage should improve significantly. While some of the members of this group are often seen as disorganized, confused and flip floppy, the one thing that can never be denied is the simple fact that theyāre fighters through and through. This is a group of players who eat, sleep and breath fighting. They are not interested in farming, hugging, trophies or even stats for the most part. When they log on, (consistency of logging on can be a problem) they have one thing on their mindā¦ "What can I blow up and where?"
-
Number 10: Nomads (TTNews AS: 2.64)
Previously # 9
Membership size, map coverage and overall mob count were some of the things that consistently seemed to come up as concerns for members of the committee. While most recognized their willingness to jump into the thick of it and not back down under pressure, in the end they play more of a supporting role than being able to hold their own for any significant length of time.
-
Number 11: MTC (TTNews AS: 1.66)
Previously: Unranked
The quiet gardeners. Anonymity works in their favor. Like other tagless alliances, you can't tell who's with the group so there's an iceberg effect. Mostly a defensive and income generating alliance. Mob, influence, income and experience are all assets that MTC possesses and if push came to shove, those resources could drain their opposition over the long haul. Being mostly a passive alliance along with their anonymity leaves them ranking fairly low on the power scale.

I think these are fair reflection of status quo with one small exception. BAIC wouldn't be first without the aid of NWR and NWR Would not be fourth without BAIC (essentially they fight as a single alliance). IMO stars are number 1 as they appear more self contained than BAIC. In any event, in a Darwinian world stars, capo Massholes etc should be competing and attempting to take the number 1 spot from BAIC. Competition drives everyone on to become better! Nonetheless they are all cosy with each other and maintain status quo by not competing. Let's make 2015 a year of competition šš
