A question

I just wanted to know, in this modern day and age. Why, understandably, it is not ok to be racist, but it is ok to be homophobic. I am neither of these things, but feel an instant dislike to those who are. Honestly just want some truthful answers to this question please.

Well, no one choses to be born as a certain race, yet, you do have a choise of beeing gay or not.
Second of all, you will find men to hate gaylords more than women.
Hope this helps a bit. -
my thoughts exactly kelentir

the forum wont let me post a response so if this comes up 3 times im sorry:
Being gay is not a choice, scientists proved this a long time ago
thats like saying you will have a cock if you feel like it, cos that means being straight is also a choice -
Vertex, I appreciate your response and for being honest, thank you. I have a feeling you are yourself straight though.
Another thing I don't understand is how straight people seem to think that the thousands of people in the world that are gay are lying when they say it is not a choice and that you are born that way. I don't see how people can believe that a child in school that is gay is choosing a life of bullying, prejudice, and sometimes risking their life. -

uhmmm, last time I checked.. Sometimes choosing to be gay can be from genetics along with personal expirence.Well, no one choses to be born as a certain race, yet, you do have a choise of beeing gay or not.

But I just don't understand how straight people can say it's a choice when they are not gay themselves. How can they assume it's a choice when they have no evidence to go on? Back to my point.. How can they say it a choice when the thousands of gay people out there say it isn't. People are born with lots of things, a preference for this, that or whatever. Why is it so hard to believe that being gay is not a choice?

I believe that 90% of Gay men/woman are that way inclined from birth. Because it is outside to what most of us would call "normal", it is hard to identify whether you are infect gay/straight from an early age. My best friend came out 3 months ago that he was gay, he is 28. But also, i do believe that the other 10% of gay men/woman choose to be whether it is through previous encounters, or just a preference. I myself am straight, but I would have no problem living with a man (would be a lot easier than living with my gf sometimes haha) just as long as we had separate beds. So to conclude, I do not think it is right to be either a racist or homophobe but here is a question for you guys/girls.... If you were to be beat up or raped or anything else as bad by a group of different race/religion, would you jump on the racist band wagon?
-
I didnt mean to offend anyone by my first response.
And yes im a straight guy.I do not hate in any way, gay people.
Whom i do hate as beeing a man, is those little shemale guys, that act like a woman, including them frikking hand gestures.
Dont get me wrong on this, as i actually have a friend that is gay, and trust me, i was stunned when he told me, didnt know anything to say, nothing but to tell him but: just keep walking in front of me... Lol we both laughed after that ha ha.
As for the matter of beeing raped by another race andturning racist... Let me put it this way:
Who would not turn at least a bit racist then?
I cant imagin youre gonna turn aro und, show them your other butt cheek and say,, guys, you missed one mates.... -
A lot of what I've seen is people being molested and taken advantage of from youth and then they grow up to have homosexual tendencies. It's really sad. I can count about people know off the top of my head that have been molested and are or were gay.
And it bothers me as a man, teacher and Christian.
That mess upsets me. -
I understand what your saying and I'm sure your right, that for some this may be the case. So.. So far we've got - it could be a choice, or u may have been molested and therefore turned off to the opposite sex. I understand and appreciate both of those reasons for being gay. However, I am pretty much 100% sure that for the vast majority of people, being attracted to the same sex is not a choice or consequence of anything from their past. So... If people who are homophobic are saying it is because of the choice involved.. They are actually only targeting those who indeed did choose. While the 99% of other gay people just have to take offence.
Thank you to everyone that has responded so far. No one has sounded homophobic or anything so please don't think I'm attacking or anything at all like that. I'm purely trying to understand different people's opinions on all of this. -
+1 for absolutely not a choice. Thank you, Kelentir for trying to get more people to understand.

I have nothing against queers. But what I don't like is. Most talk with a stupid lyspe after they "Come out of the closet" I'd no them before that an they were good blokes. Than they go off and pussy themseves up. U don't need to look like a flamingo and talk like u have half a tounge if ur gay.
So the gays cry about losing friends. It's not because their gay. But I would find it embarrising to be seen socializing with a guy with a fluffy pink hat and sound like th pineapple studio guy.

Maybe when they "change" as you say, they're finally getting to be themselves that they've always been hiding in fear.
-
I don't know any gay guys with a lisp :S but +1 to bellaltaliana I totally agree

a lyspe is a speaking disorder. They speak normally for 20 years of their life. Come out of the closet. And all of a sudden they can't pronounce words proply? I call bullshit. It's all media portraying what a gay "is" and people falling for it. I had 2 gays at my highskool. Both on the footy team. They came out of the closet withing a few months of each other. One quite. Girlied himself up. And now he is a drag queen(well trying) The whole lyspe pink hats etc. The other kept his normal persona. We could still talk to him. He didn change in our mind. He is now a bricky and he played football up untill last year.Maybe when they "change" as you say, they're finally getting to be themselves that they've always been hiding in fear.
I don't bully i don't tease. I just don't want to talk to them. Unless like I said. They are man enough to accept it but not put on a big show.

holy crap, Nailz......ur awesome......😄 lol I don't discriminate at all, I'm not racist or a homophobic, got different races in my family along with gays, but I always wondered why is it ppl r so scared of them? What Nailz just said made sense to me, cuz alot of them are cool n alot of times u can't tell unless u actually know them, but the divas get annoying (my cousin's a diva n he bugs the shit outta me....at times) but what's so different from a cool dude that likes chicks and a cool dude (that's exactly the same) but likes dudes? Why r u guys so scared? They're actually the best friends to have you gotta "inside man" on the job for ya that could hook u up with any chick u want.....dumbasses

I don't think it's choice. You can't choose race, appearance, physical ability or sexuality. You're born with all these traits and like everything in life develop and mature. If you're gay, you're gay. Why do people hide it? Choice is deciding to flaunt your sexuality to make a statement.Vertex wrote:

I just wish and hope that the day people understand is coming soon. I get what everyone is saying, and as far as how people act that is up to peoples own perogative as to whether they want to hang with these people.. But it's just the concept of "it's ok to be homophobic" that I'd like to see change one day... Soon. Because at the end of the day.. One of the main arguments is... How is being gay and having a same sex partner affecting anyone else? Lots of people do lots of different things in this world, it's never going to change and that's what makes us human.
