Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Forums › General Discussion › Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor-
Anyone else playing this? I was hooked within the first hour of playing. It's basically a open world game set in Mordor in Tolkien's Middle earth. Movement is like Assassins Creed (climb around and be stealthy) with Batman Arkham series fighting mechanics (counter enemy attacks, etc). What really has me interested is the Nemesis System:
" A unique feature of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is the Nemesis system. Every enemy players' face is a unique individual, differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. These enemies are shaped by their encounters with the player to create personal arch-enemies who are unique to every gameplay session. Players must out think each distinctively different enemy they encounter to infiltrate the ranks and dominate within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their actions and choices.

Every enemy in the game has their own name, rank, and memory. These enemies will continue to do their own jobs and tasks even when they're off screen; the game progresses in real time even if you do not interfere, and as such an enemy you meet in one gameplay session may suddenly have achieved a higher rank the next time you meet him.
If the player does not kill an enemy in an encounter, this enemy will remember the player and change their tactics and conversations based on the encounter. The enemy will also grow more powerful and learn new immunities. Killing them will also net the player more experience points. "
Another feature the ability to "dominate" or basically making them loyal to you. Here is a description:
-
" When an Uruk is dominated by Talion, the player is given four choices:
Command: Do missions from within the Nemesis hierarchy with the dominated captain, examples include killing off other Nemeses in duels, hunting beasts to increase standing in Uruk society, etc.
Kill: Kill the dominated Nemesis.
Death Threat: Used to threaten the Captains into bolstering their defences. While the fight against the Captains will be considerably more difficult, the reward will include an epic rune.
Dismiss: Dismissing an Uruk can provide a strong tactical advantage. A branded an Uruk will stay under Talion's control, and remain in the general area he's currently defending. A dismissed Uruks in an area can be called in as reinforcements. There's a chance that, as Uruk Captains kill each other and die, a marked Uruk will make their way up the ranks. " -
(These descriptions were taken off shadowofmordor.wikia.com). Sorry for the long post but this is one of the best games I've played. I highly recommend you look into it and maybe buy it yourself. 👍😎😃

Sorry but my brain started hurting after the first paragraph. I tried to skim through and hurt even more from the terms in it. Sounds like a great game though! Ill definitely look into it.👍

I also have a problem with the learning enemies. Not everyone can play the game as often. So a week later, the newbies become elite soldiers who can kill you with one hit.
