Better jobs ? Better opportunities? -
im not a business major (so ignore if this isnt true), but what ive heard is that its easier to find a job as an accountant, but possibility for more pay in finance

Accountants are busier, but have more job opportunities.

Get the accounting degree. It will open many more doors for you. It also translates well into the finance field so you are better off. GL!

Now that's a dirty job! 🙊 -
Im a finance major. Similar but different. To me it's all about preference and what you're more interested in. I had to take 3 accounting classes and I can personally say accounting is not for me. Income statements and balance sheets still haunt me😨 but it's good to learn about them. I'm more interested in investments; stocks, bonds, warrants, options ect.

Good Luck!!
IMO neither!! I got burnt out crunching numbers... Then "downsized" after 5 years with the company 😂2x -

Hey I've read that in order to get a good job in finance you have to go to a really good university. I'm going to attend a state school in Texas . Is that true? Accounting firms are a great way to start your career in audit tax or consulting. If you want an investment banking job you need a finance degree as you will be expected to sit for your cfa and or series exams. Better job security with an accounting degree in my opinion.

Why not double major?

UT Austin has the #1 accounting / finance program in the country. Top graduates from that program are recruited by firms in their sophomore year and have guaranteed jobs when they finish up.
A flight student of mine graduated from there and was recruited to a firm in London where he worked for 5 years and then worked for Disney before starting his own businesses. He got his CPA as well.
He's now a multimillionaire and says clearly that having the accounting degree opened so many doors and opportunities for him that it's the way to go.

ThanK you guys I really appreciate it the information ! I'm going to go with accounting Hopefully ( Cpa) then later in life (with work experience) get an MBA with concentration in finance . Thank you !!

Most big CPA firms recruit people starting as juniors. So start attending their recruiting events and making connections. Most like to hire from their intern pool. So ask about when interviews for internships happen. Internships pay very well as a bonus.
