I'm dissappointed in the way things turned out in my state, and that Mitch McConell was elected again in KY. Fuck that turtle looking ass hat.

KY just showed we are sheep who don't know to change the narrative.
Oh well. You get the government you vote for. -
I like to complain about politicians and their policies, so I don't vote.

I voted so I could have the right to bitch about who got elected! If you didn't vote.....shut it! You get no voice!

I disagree (obviously, I said as much earlier). By voting, you are buying into the system and agreeing to abide by the results of the vote, whichever way it goes. Although to get right down to it, since voting is not compulsory, and the same rights are guaranteed (i use that word very loosely) to all, everybody has the right to bitch, and since voting (or not) in elections is confidential, anybody can say anything they want about it. The argument is moot, yet interesting. To be honest, I didn't vote, because I didn't feel like choosing between torture and death. It seemed like a waste of time.I voted so I could have the right to bitch about who got elected! If you didn't vote.....shut it! You get no voice!

"By voting, you are buying into the system...". That is the most idiotic statement I've ever heard. If you don't like the "system" then GTFO. What? you'd rather let other people make decisions that affect YOU and have no say in the process? Move to Iran or North Korea and see how that works out for you.〓 MR71VWBUS 〓 wrote:

I voted. Unfortunately, here in hawaii we keep voting for the same people and expect different results.
-
Not sure if its different in the states, but in England there's no point.
All bullshitting peados that do the same as the last political party. -

Not moving away is not consent to the rule. This is one of the major reasons social contract is a bad argument. There is no implied consent by staying put in a certain society. There are no uninhabited lands for me to move to. It is prohibitively expensive for many people to "opt-out" and in many cases extremely difficult to get permission as well. By voting for elected representatives, YOU are letting other people make decisions that affect you and YOU have no say in the process, other than having some minor influence in the elected representative (who is a lying asshat), which is usually a function of where you live, with few exceptions. -
Ahh the illusion of democracy, so comforting isn't it?

Constitutional rights are guaranteed. And like I said, that is a pretty loose guarantee, the way things are going. Can I vote to restrict police power? Nope, not on the ballot. Can I vote for net neutrality? Nope, not on the ballot. Choosing not to vote doesn't mean I don't know what's being voted on. The reality of the ballot is this: I can vote for this lying snake of a man, or that one, both of which will say one thing to get a vote and do the opposite to further their own self-interests. On the rare occasion some issue is actually put to the people for a vote, it is almost always something I couldn't care less about (legalise marijuana, for example). But I always know what's on the ballot. -
If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal.
