iPad Air 2 wifi issues...
Forums › General Discussion › iPad Air 2 wifi issues...-
Since I got my "new toy" last week I keep dropping wifi and have to turn it on and off in settings to get connected again. I have a dual band linksys EA3500 router with both band's SSID the same. Anyone else having issues too or know how to fix this? I've read a few posts online but haven't tried too many changes with the router because i don't want to mess anything up and have to redo all my device/connection settings.

I have been having that issue with my ipad4 and iphone5S from time to time. no resolution yet although 8.1 is a hell of a lot better than 8.0.1/8.0.2 were

Try two separate SSID's. One for the 5 GHz band and one for the 2.4 GHz. I have it setup that way and it connects to the 5 GHz band when it is close to the router but switches to the 2.4 when farther away.

they actually recommend the same SSID. let the system choose the better connectionTry two separate SSID's. One for the 5 GHz band and one for the 2.4 GHz. I have it setup that way and it connects to the 5 GHz band when it is close to the router but switches to the 2.4 when farther away.

I have never had that issue iphone or ipad. Can't say much about the desktops or laptops because I have never had one.I've always heard apple products have difficulties with certain routers.

Go to the Linksys website and download the latest firmware for your router.
Follow the instructions to update the router and then reboot it.
After upgrading, it will probably work a lot better.
Linksys, D-Link, Netgear routers have issues with the Apple wifi implementation, out of the box. Especially for older versions, but they all have patches available in the latest firmware that fixes the issue and makes the router work better with iPads and iPhones.
Give it a try.

Also, before you apply the update, use your router's configuration menu to save a backup of your current configuration to a file on your computer.
Then, if the settings get altered during the install, you can restore from the file and you'll be back in business.
Usually, the settings remain unchanged after a firmware update though.

Thanks everyone. I'll try out some of these things tomorrow.

Tried these and many other suggestions. Apple support is trying to point the finger at my router but nothing has changed except my new iPad. I have disabled the 5GHz band and I don't drop my signal while connected now but if I put my iPad to sleep or switch apps frequently I lose internet connectivity but stay connected to the router so it appears to be working but when I try to open an app, say TW, it just hangs and says no connection. I have to go to setting and toggle wifi off then on again. I never thought I'd regret buying a slimmer, lighter, faster iPad but right now all I want is my iPad 3 back working perfectly. 😢

My iPhone 4 always drops my wifi when I'm at the edge of good signal strength i guess... I have to open up the settings app and then it suddenly realizes it is able to be on wifi. Makes me want to break my phone in half and eat it sometimes
