I come to speak at Caesars funeral.

My name is Danny Rifle. At this time last week I had 15,000 influence, 26,000 mob and turf all throughout Naples/Ft. Meyers and South Indianapolis. Now I have nothing. This is my story.
I started playing Turfwars on March 11th, 2012. I saw an ad for the game while playing Brothers in Arms. The ad intrigued me- It said that I could battle for my city and gain the level of most influential player. Out of curiosity, I downloaded the app. I found that Seal Team 6 was the Capo of Indianapolis, and right next to my neighborhood there was a bunch of turf from Goddess. The fact there was turf so close to my house sparked my competitiveness. I wanted to become a rising respected player in the area. I looked on the TW wiki page and found documentation of past wars, legendary players, and long time TW traditions such as Gas Day. I realized that TW was not like most games. It isn't some huge game where opponents are picked randomly like Clash of Clans. -
It's a living, breathing, alternate world with an intricate economy and factions and diplomacy. The more I played and read, the more I became interested. I started punching codes and enjoying the thrill of waking up to see my mob had increased by a couple hundred that night. I had aspirations to become one of the biggest players in the game, and I hoped that I could make it there by punching codes.
In the Fall of 2012 I went off to college. There were no TW players at my school, so I planted most of my turf in Naples and spread out to try to have access to every part of Naples. There were quite a few players in Naples who were much bigger than I was, so I just planted my turf and laid low, hoping to slowly and silently grow my mob. -
In the spring semester I started working on what would ultimately be my downfall: a mob script. I just had this feeling in the back of my mind that it had to be possible to make a script, and I just had to do it. I spent hours of learning various methods of macro coding, and purchased the necessary apps to make the code work. I spent more hours testing the code and making sure it ran smoothly and would stop after entering a certain number of codes. After a few days, my script worked. I was ecstatic. I had about 8,000 mob at the time. I gained 5,000 mob in a few weeks, but lost my phone while camping and was left without an iOS device until February of this year.
Once I got a new iOS device I immediately resumed my scripting. I was power-hungry: I thought I had beat the system and could use my secret knowledge to attain a high rank in the game. -
What next? Please, suspense is killing me!
-
From February to June I went from 13,000 mob to 22,000 mob and ran out of codes on ICM. This was a major roadblock for me. I never thought that I could never reach the numbers of Dunn and the likes just because they had been playing longer..
It was about this time when TW started to ask for human verification when I ran my script. This was a shock to me: I was too proud to think that any one else had ever made a script too. I looked through the TOS and found that scripts were expressly forbidden. I thought to myself that if I hadn't been caught yet, I was probably ok. I had already entered all the codes, so I didn't mind too much if i had to stop scripting.
I resolved then to try to become the tyrant of my own little area. I had lofty plans of trying to gang up with a few players in South Florida and trying to rule the area like a cartel: make smaller players pay periodic tribute of loot and such. -
I started to get ready for this: I sold all upkeep weapons and started stockpiling cash because my influence wasn't large enough to support my mob, so when I would be fully equipped I would need cash to bankroll me. My plan was to wait until I got an iPhone rather than just my iPod, and then I would make alliances and start something. I got my iPhone a few weeks ago.
Last week I logged in to find that I had been banned. I asked support why this was, and they told me I had been banned for scripting. I explained that I didn't know it was against the TOS, and that when I did know I stopped scripting. They graciously unbanned me, but told me that I could not be permitted to have my old stats. -
Awh... That sux man...

So here I am, back at square one. I put a few good years into this game and had turf in a bunch of different places. I have reached a point in college and life where it is simply not worth it to me to try to rebuild what I had.
I make this post as my own eulogy and apology to the TW community. I cheated at this game. I cheated for a very long time. What I did cheapens the hard work that so many players put into this game, and for that I am sorry. I never posted much in the forums, but I always enjoyed reading them and seeing everyone's personalities shine through. I am going to miss logging in and checking out the changes to the map every day. I am going to miss the hilarious trolling of noobs with new loot that everyone claims to get with every update. -
I just want to say one last thing before I go: Someone in this game needs to shake things up. Someone needs to decide that living a complacent TW life is no way to live. Someone needs to go out there and tear a hole in the map and bring total global war to everyone, just to bring excitement to the game. I had fantasies of being able to go Gasface across the face of the earth just for the fun of it, because too many players are content to sit back and farm. Shake things up. Break the mold.
I will be deleting this app on Friday, 10/17/14 at 5pm EST. If you want me in your mob before I delete, request me because I won't do any more requesting. My code is on my wall.
It's been a great 2.5 years guys. I apologize for what I did, and I ask your forgiveness. Peace, and happy turfing.

This is truly good stuff. Kudos to you for being man enough to accept the consequences of your actions and to tell your story as a warning to others.
Sorry that you won't be staying with us but good luck in real life.

Beautiful thread... Sorry your TW career has to end like this. Yet, you simply accept the blame and admit you cheated. I like it. Great read. I agree with your sentiment that someone should shake the game up a little bit. Goodbye Danny rifle ✌️👊😔 good luck in RL

*Starts Tearing Up* That was beautiful... 😥... I will avenge you...

Dude.....nice post. Shows character!
This should be a "how to" read for a lot of people.
Sorry to see you go
Enjoy life!

Very unusual post. In this day and age this is just not seen. I respect your honesty. Sometimes people make mistakes. Not very often will they admit them, especially in front of everyone. Continue being honest (and of course don't cheat anymore) and I think you have a promising life ahead of you. Good luck.

It's almost a shame that you got caught you would have been a breath of fresh air to the game.
You looks like you had it all figured out and it would have been interesting to see where you would have been in another year. But you got caught and if you can't put the work into it to get back in there I don't blame you.
Thanks for the entertaining story. Cheers! -
Good read. Good luck irl.

good for you danny. i only disagree with walking away. at 22k i honestly dont' think it would take that long to get back into the game. i use a keyboard, and even with a busy home life i could put in at least a couple thousand codes a day. it's doable, and i believe it's worth it. punch codes is a therapeutic disconnect from the rest of rl.
-
Intelligent enough to write the scripts, dubious enough to use them. You seem ok to me, kid. My only criticism is that you had to get caught to see the err of your ways. Good luck to you.

Good post, DR. Good luck on your next adventure!

Nice one Danny, kudos for holding up your hands 🙌 and fessing up, think most people will respect your retrospective honesty 😉.
Anyway if you can't stay away there are lots of great ways to have fun messing with the big mobs, even as a 3/4k ranger (nothing worse for a big mob than getting ranged by some little scroat 😜), obviously you still need time/effort and money to get the profile needed for fighting in/with/against alliances but it can be done without the need for a massive mob👍
At the very least Everyone should (while playing this game) get involved in organised/alliance type fighting
, it is what the game was designed for and without a doubt is by far the best part of this game, even if, like me you are getting your butt kicked all over the planet 👊👞🚶😃And also agree, the game does need a massive shake up - and if it doesn't happen it could be the down fall of this game we all love

Unlike Cleveland slim dicks attention whore of a thread, this is actually a good read. Good on you for manning up and accepting your punishment. Take care of yourself Danny

A very touching story that will be remembered in the hearts of many. I agree With Mav also. It would be nice to have one player go crazy. It would be great... Good look in RL✌
