That same advice, given to some motorcyclists, might help a few of them save themselves. In California, due to traffic jams and the air-cooled design of many bikes, riders have the privilege of cutting between lines of cars. That doesn't mean they must do it at every red light. Or go 100 miles per hour between the fast lane and the car pool lane.

But it does get them to their location a couple minutes earlier.

Majority of mc accidents are people making left turn crossing the path of the motorcycle giving them less than 3 sec to react. Second leading cause is rider error negotiating corners. Less than 1% is motorcycles going over 100 mph. Also riders under 30 make up a large bulk of accidents.

Well that's good, because anyone on a motorcycle going 100 miles an hour is breaking the law 100% of the time.

The point isn't that they deserve the death penalty for doing so, but the 1% figure is a bit misleading as I'm sure the vast majority of riders spend little to no time traveling at over 100 mph.

Fun fact: in Tennessee, over 50% of motorcycle crashes are single vehicle crashes.

Iv never looked it up for myself but the Honda dealer said a large percent of accidents are riders with no dirt bike experience. Iv noticed that a lot of riders on cruisers don't handle corners well. They lean the bike and don't roll with the bike they stay upright in the seat which will send you right off the road.

I used to run the stats program at the department of safety. Some of the studies we did were surprising. Very few crotch rockets are in fatal crashes, mostly middle-aged dudes on Harleys. There's a mentality that "I had a bike when I was 18" and they go out only on weekends to crash their bikes.

Anyone on a motorcycle needs to take a three day safety course!! 90% of those that do not... End up in accidents. I took mine over 10 years ago and still think about everything I learned when I'm out there. It's no joke!
