stuck at a Union Station in LA because the ticket lady decided I was the first in line for the next one. Anyone else have bad experiences on the subject of trains?

One day, when I was very young, my mother forgot me on a train after she had taken me shopping with her. I ended up riding the train for about two more hours before a policeman found me and I was reunited with my mother. This happened three more times before I turned 6. 😒

I frequently ride the amtrak from Richmond, VA to Deerfield, Massachusetts. An overall pleasant experience, save for one layover.
