Building my first gaming PC

Which parts would you recommend for under 1000 dollars? Also, where should I purchase the parts?

Already offered to help you.. For 1000 you can get a high end PC. Use PCPartPicker and buy from TigerDirect or Newegg (most likely the best prices). Micro center is good for bundling too, so check that out. Shoot us the link to the build when you're done 👍

I just bought a laptop, the "HP Envy 15." It works fine for all the games I've tested, and it's 600$ with a coupon code I found online. I'm pretty satisfied with it, but if you plan to play games like Crysis maxed out, then it isn't for you

I got a bundled package from NewEgg a few months ago that was a little over $500. I dropped a GTX770 GPU into it, which still kept me under a grand. Works great, and never breaks a sweat, no matter what I am doing.

AMD vs Intel
SLI vs Cross fire
I love intel but will probably switch to AMD CPU/GPU -
Use rubber bands to hold down heat sinks and case fans to save money. Also, my mate down the pub swears blind that if you put the tower under running water it's as good as any water cooling system you can buy.
Personally, I've found that over clocking the psu (search on YouTube for "maniac with a screwdriver" for the instructional vid) doubles the excitement every time you press the power button.

Also, if the computer gets too loud, be sure to put several layers of blankets over the computer. I would go on websites and looks a pre builds to see what is generally used. Don't buy anything that you need to replace/gets outdated at all. You don't need a water cooler if you only use your computer for a few hours a day. I personally hate windows 8. And it sucks ass for gaming for me personally. I would recommend a GTX 700 or higher so you don't have to upgrade. Don't waste money on a case cause it has "lights and looks cool" buy a case that's functional. Hope that helps some 👍

My first 'gaming' PC was one I built for 3D modelling (I used to do a LOT of architectural stuff, inside and outside of work).
I forget all of the specs but at the time it was a brilliant computer, and I got all the parts at massively discounted prices from a relative. I still have it, but haven't used it in three years.
CPU is a Quad core Intel i5 (750 if I remember), Graphics card was a bang-for-buck 1Gb Radion HD (5000 series I believe). It died after six months, and the replacement that was supplied under warranty and supposedly an upgrade was complete ratshit. I ran dual boot OS: XP Professional and Win 7 Professional. Three SATA HDD's with a total capacity of about 1.5Tb - one for each OS and a backup 1Tb drive.
I wish I could remember all the specs but it was a long time ago and I was learning as I went lol.
All in all, have fun, do your research and good luck! And have fun. Lol ;)
