What's a good platform to start coding? I liked HTML and Visual Basic back in the day. I'm trying java now. Any suggestions for a noob?

Pascal or c++

Try Fortran on an IBM System 370 Mainframe. That's what I first learned.
Oops... Am I showing my age again. 😁
However, you can probably pick up a System 370 dirt cheap if you have a spare house to put it in.

"A typical System/370 Model 165 with 1 million bytes of main memory carried a purchase price of $4,674,160."
I'm sure you could get one on discount nowadays. Maybe check BestBuys flyer.

Haha. Probably was. It was ancient in the 80's. It was donated to the school I went to. They used it for a year, then decided it had no teaching value and used too much space and electricity. Not to mention the cases of punched cards went though to program it. 😜
But it does make one appreciate a 32gig iPhone with touch screen. LOL

Ugh! They made us learn Pascal my freshman year in high school - 24 years ago. I hated that crap. I swear there was no logic to it.Pascal or c++

I recommend you start with Python
If your completely new to coding Java can be difficult to learn for a first programming language
The platform you use depends on your operating system, Windows, Mac OS, Linux, ect
Defiantly do NOT jump straight into C++

C++ isn't a bad starter, it's what I took in college. All the programmers at work hate Python, but I've never used it. HTML is a good basic one.I recommend you start with Python

Thanks I have all three operating systems but wanted to focus more on Mac OS stuff. I honestly kept thinking c++ was the way to go . There's a web site called codeschool.com that makes programming very understandable .I recommend you start with Python
