I've recently self identified as having Aspergers Syndrome and I'm curious if there are any fellow Aspies out there?

I've worked with Aspies a bit in the past and currently. It's very new even after 20 years of being an official diagnosis. It's very complex when it comes to diagnosis. I like to describe it as similar to autism but a very high functioning form.

A bit of a guide, but yes essential it's a form of autism.

If you're curious there's a really good test (although non diagnostic) here: http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

My brother has it

👋 I'm here. 😜

So, I'm not alone, lol.

I just did the test. I'm in!

First, you're a little late. Asperger's is no longer officially considered a diagnosis, at least in America, which is really the only thing that matters.. Those previously diagnosed are now considered to have a level of autism spectrum disorder. Second, if you're concerned, go see a doctor, don't self-diagnose. It's asinine. It's also extremely insensitive to those who may actually be affected by ASD. Third, it is not a form of autism. It is an ASD. Autism itself is a subcategory of ASD.
Seems like if you wanted to self-diagnose, you'd do at least a little more research than a silly internet quiz. Hopefully you did more research before you chopped your penis off.

We thought our son had it, we started the ADHD route too. About 10 years ago we got an official diagnosis of Aspergers.
Since he left home at 18 all the negative behaviours stopped and he has become a model citizen. It turned out it was just that he was a little shit.

I agree with every thing except for the last sentence . That's a fucked up thing to say. From what i remember swag said she had to be evaluated by a professional before going foward with her operation.First, you're a little late. Wow. Based on the amount of research swagger did before determining it had asperger's, I genuinely hope he did more research before choping his penis off. How is that insensitive? Or at least, any more insensitive than it self-diagnosing an ASD without knowing hardly anything about it? Where is all this swagger defense when shaggly razors shows up?

Well there was no need to bring up her gender reassignment surgery, it wasn't relevant and it will always be a very sensitive issue. Also swagger probably did more research than that quiz she posted before self identifying, as she didn't anywhere state that she'd only done that quiz. So to answer your question... Yes you were more insensitive than self-identifying an ASD. A lot of people self identify ASDs and its not wrong to do it ffs.Wow. Partially a joke, but truthfully, if America make a change like that, the UK is sure to follow soon enough, and then the rest of europe....no longer officially considered a diagnosis, at least in America, which is really the only thing that matters..

It is relevant. I didn't jab at the fact that it was done. But why do we all have to be so fucking sensitive to swagger's gender identity crisis but she doesn't have to be sensitive to those of us affected by ASD's? What the fuck? And yes it is wrong to go around self-identifying as having a disorder that you clearly don't know all that much about. It's insensitive and truthfully, makes you a bit of an attention whore. Go see a doctor. You may have a disorder, but it's definitely not Asperger's! -

Janet Mock, a famous, brilliant transgendered person, author, and activist, suggests using "it" or "they" as an alternative to gendered pronouns to avoid labeling someone incorrectly. While I don't agree with "they" because of the plural implication, I have to defer to an actual transgendered person's opinion. So screw your outrage, and screw you!
