4x4 RC Nitro monster truck fun
Forums › General Discussion › 4x4 RC Nitro monster truck fun-
Last year, around this time, the Australian Tax Department were so kind as to return several thousand of my hard-earned tax dollars. Much of that money went into paying bills and paying vehicle registration, but some also went to my local hobby store. About $400, to be exact.
For one day (or more accurately, about three hours), I was the proud owner of a fully functional four wheel drive Radio Control monster truck.
Then disaster struck, in the form of a brick wall. Mortally wounded, Truck sat on a shelf for twelve months.
A couple of weeks ago, Truck and I went back to the hobby shop ... and so began the fun and games.
-
Parts were purchased, and Truck enjoyed every moment of the rebuild process. Swing-arms were installed, shock absorbers lovingly refilled with fluid, gearbox housings were replaced and fresh nitro fuel flooded into Trucks's compression chamber.
For several minutes Truck flew around the yard, enjoying himself immensely. Then disaster again struck, this time in the shape of an obstacle somewhat too big for Truck's puny mighty wheels to clamber over. A brick wall.
Truck and I agonised over his injuries for a day, and then we had an excellent idea.
Why not replace his stupidly designed plastic swing-arms and gearbox housings with nice, strong aluminium ones? Maybe they would withstand unexpected teeny tiny little kisses (with brick walls).
-
For a week I laboured over the workbench, Truck watching on with great anticipation. Swing-arms machined, I began work on the gearbox housing. Sweat dripped, knuckles were bashed against stubborn aluminium blocks and blood flew freely until, one evening not too long ago (last night), Truck's unique replacement parts sat gleaming under the fluorescent lights of the workshop.
Complete once again, Truck and I went for a cruise. In his excitement, Truck wriggled free of his exhaust manifold and screamed off into the dark, leaving his gasket and exhaust system lying sadly on the ground.
Bemused, or possibly infuriated, I packed Truck up and put him away to await further repairs.

Oh. Damn ... ok bye :(

I've got an hpi savage xl, mine busted the control crystal after a triple flip at a skate park. Haven't decided what controller I want to buy.
They are fun 😎
-
So what I learned is that turfa isn't a very good driver 😜
-
L0S3R, I'm getting ready for work right now or I'd google your car. Is it a monster truck? Or a buggy or something along those lines? Please tell me it's nitro lol. So much fun!! And more cool-er than electric 😜👍

All aluminum alloy parts except the skid plat (guaranteed for life) and the battery cover. I haven't gotten around to replacing that yet. If I had my control crystal wouldn't have busted.
-
Oops I forgot, yes it's all nitro with an aftermarket 5.2 engine
-
Woah dude that sounds wicked! I want your truck!! Haha. Oh, and I wish my wife would let me buy her a buggy, that'd be awesome. She hates Truck :(
I made a horrendous mistake when I bought Truck. As a complete greenhorn, I went and bought the cheapest nitro RC MT I could get.
Now, after all of our adventures Truck and I are rather close indeed, but the time is coming when I shall have to go out and spend some real money on a brand-name truck (Truck Mk.2, obviously) ... from my research so far I have decided on probably either Traxxas or HPI racing brand.
Truck is a cheap (relative - $400 wasn't cheap to me lol) Chinese brand named Colt.

I dont think you realise yet turfa, its not truck's fault.
Its that lowlife turfa's fault. Everytime he does everything within his power to fuck your fun up.Can i suggest something?
Dont sell truck, but get yourself a Nice gbb or aeg replica (airsoft if you dont know what kinda shit im talking about)
And whenever turfa come around the corner again to fuck your fun up, just point and pull the trigger.
It wont kill him, but when shot in the correct area, it will hurt like hell!!!
( correct area's beeing bodyparts where there is low coverage of fat, like the head, the whole area we call a back, hands, elbows and whatever other area's)
If you wann him to remember for a couple of weeks, a quick aim to the forehead will do the trick. It will leave him with an easteregg like mark, and it will be visible even after a month or two!
( trust me i know, ive been there) -
Fartex old pal, Truck and I live in a wonderful country governed by an an unfortunately braindead and horrendously overbearing government that has, in its infinite wisdom, outlawed even imitation weapons.
-
They thing with nitro is.... Your going to break it lol, I have around $1k in mine alone. It still breaks something lol. I have 2 dozen spare shocks... Not enough considering it's got dual shocks all around.
-
Yep, I've already replaced two shocks, four suspension arms and two gearbox housings ... and I've only burned through a few tanks of fuel since breaking the engine in lol.
Admittedly, one shock and two suspension arms were at half-throttle during the break-in stage, while I was still getting used to controlling Truck in a fairly confined area lol

Whack a turbo on it for extra added future repairs.. I mean extra fun... Yes fun. One of those ball bearing turbokeychains should do.

Best. Story. Ever.

Today, Truck and I went for a cruise. Sporting his exhaust pipe and chuffing blue smoke, he squealed around for half an hour having tremendous fun. I swear, there could have been an electric RC Porche watching him with the way he showed off; wriggling along the pavement and doing mighty jumps off the curb and onto the grass. Several times he pushed it a little too far and flipped upside down, only once or twice managing to bounce back onto his wheels. Half way through his third tank of fuel, he decided to meander through some thick grass on the other side of the road as he headed back towards me almost tired out. Suddenly, his expression changed and with a look of utter horror, he fell over as a rear wheel twisted free of the axle. Dolefully, he lay crippled, squeaking pitifully in an attempt to not stall.
Truck is sitting lonely and cold now in the workshop, knowing it will be a full month before his fancy new wheels and tires arrive in the mail from ebay.
