In there prime. Ali v Tyson
Forums βΊ General Discussion βΊ In there prime. Ali v Tyson-
For me it's hard to say but I think Tyson would of took him out with in 6-7 rounds just to powerful but also quick.
But Ali for me is a true legend

Tyson

I had this debate the other day with friends lol. Tyson through sheer animal instint
-
Ali would have plinked away at Tyson while remaining unhittable until Tyson went mad with fury and either spent himself with wild rage punches or bit Ali on the ear.

Lmao I was just watching a thing where someone put all of Tyson's best fights into one and I saw what he meant haha he was pissed cuz the guy kept purposely head butting him and it wasn't as bad as I though. Before I thought he bit a whole chunk off but it was more like he pinched off a bit from the earlobeAli would have plinked away at Tyson while remaining unhittable until Tyson went mad with fury and either spent himself with wild rage punches or bit Ali on the ear.

As for the question..... Idk I like Ali but I honestly think Tyson would win

Ali fought the likes of Sonny Liston, Frazer, Norton and Foreman. All of them were powerhouses. Watch footage of Ali and you'll see not only could he dance and move like no other for 15 rounds... He deceptively hit HARD.
No doubt Tyson was a great brawler, but he never similar competition until Holyfield came along.
Ali... All the way.

To be fare Tyson wasn't the same fighter when Holyfield came along, he wasn't the same fighter after Cus D'Amato died in 85 which would of made Tyson I'm not sure 24-25. Think he fought Holyfield in 90 the bad years had kicked in by then think he was on drugs and hanging round with to many hangers on.Ali fought the likes of Sonny Liston, Frazer, Norton and Foreman. The speed of his hands for such a big guy were amazing but I appreciate no one can write Ali off legend.

ALI!!! Heaps more technique than Tyson.

Tyson's frozen chicken nuggets vs George Foreman's grill... No contest. "There" awesome.

I don't know that Ali ever fought anybody with Tyson's power. If they matched up before the Buster Duglous (sp) when Tyson thought he was still unbeatable, I don't see it getting past the 3rd round. Ali never saw that kind if speed and power.
-
Every boxing "expert" I could find online gives this matchup to Ali. He's exactly the kind of fighter that always gave Tyson fits and is the best of that group. If they had 10 fights, Tyson would win one with a first round knockout. The rest would go to Ali.

But Ali got beat in his prime against fighters that wouldn't of lived with Tyson.
Tyson in his prime was out there on his own -
Pretty sure Ali could easily take out that physicist.

Ali is a legend but Tyson would win hands down

Just to jump in here again -
One of the things people overlook with Ali was his size.
Even though he was incredibly fast and light on his feet... He was 6'3" with a 72" reach. Tyson a mere 5'10" walked in his flat foot peek a boo style.
It is well known that NOBODY has ever hit as hard as Foreman. The fact that Ali was able to skillfully absorb his massive blows (with a greater reach of 82 inches) is an incredible feat.
(Just watch the documentary 'When We Were Kings'.)
I just don't see Tyson being able to dominate Ali.
Interesting- if we could pluck fighters out of time, I think one of the greatest matches would have been Marciano vs. Tyson. They were both animal brawlers and about the same build.
Now that I would love to see!

I'm not much of a boxing guy, but was Tyson a bit overrated? Who did he actually beat? I know he would go in and destroy a guy in 2 rounds and was fun to watch, but my money is on Ali. More disciplined.
-
Watch the Ali/Shavers fight. Shavers probably had a stronger punch than Tyson or Foreman. He wails into an aging Ali. Yet Ali withstand some horrible wallops and wins the fight.

Is the show
Deadliest Warrior
Still around? They need to do this match up lol -

Ali would have taken whatever punches Tyson threw until mike got tired then Ali would knock him out.
-
This is the day, 17 years ago, Tyson bit off the EAR!
-
I think even Sonny Liston would've beaten Tyson... Maybe even Rocky Marciano.. Don't get me wrong I liked Tyson- he was the best of his generation but that's about it..
-
I don't think there was a fighter as powerful as Tyson with the speed around in Ali's day, Foreman great great fighter very powerful but not the quickest.
Boxing progressed like all sports, Tyson was quite small in his division but still bigger than the older boxers. Ali 107kg, Frazier 104, Marciano 85kg just about get into today's cruiser weight division, Tyson would of beat him inside 2.
Sorry Tyson 109kg
