Can we please dispense with the armchair economist comments? How does one "own" a sovereign nation? Especially one that out-guns you by a very comfortable margin...Ꮶ͜иιɢн͡т wrote:
I hate to say this but America are on a very slippery slope......Given another few years china will own the US.
Can we buy countries now? How much for Guatemala? I think we can easily slip it into our annual deficit without even noticing.
Hey pap... How much for the Falklands? I mean, I know you killed a lot of people for it, but how much are those goat herders worth really? What's it gonna take to make you sell us those rocks TONIGHT? Let's make a deal!

Nothing speaks louder than the monetary system in our day and age. As far as picking up the "own" comment and essentially throwing your toys out your pram, I'm not saying they'd own the country, but when they're buying up the kind of companies which keep a nations infrastructure operating, let's see how far guns reach if the shit hit the fan and they were to start pulling vast chunks out the economy.
Not even American politicians are stupid enough to go to war with countries who keep their koffers full.
Now, why not dispense with the armchair arrogance? If you can't play nice try growing up. 👍

Dammit Knight! You know it's guns and butter! I thought you were a student of economics!
-
Armchair arrogance?
That makes no sense at all. Is professional arrogance on TV something I like to bark at from the relatively ignorant position of my favorite chair?
Cliché fail.
Moronic statements from across the pond aside...
I said nothing about war with China. I'm only saying that China has but purchased a reasonably proportional share of US Treasury department small-yield loans. There is no massive Chinese presence in our actual economy that is any more significant than any other wealthy country abroad. Nor do we have to honor those bonds if it ever got "real".
China is not a serious threat to the United States at the present time economically, militarily, politically, or even aromatically.
If you think otherwise, it only shows that you are weak and frightened by the big kids on the block, of which you have no part.

With international butter prices being as unstable as they are, on the back of poor overall performance. Large scale gun production is practically impossible. Times they are a changing old friend. No longer can we rely on guns and butter alone. :/

See all the giant state-run Chinese corporations in America?
Oh, wait. There aren't any. Derp.
Besides... We all know the best Guns are European. Chinese guns? GTFO. Chinese butter? Prolly has arsenic in it. I'm sure the factory manager is hanging himself now.
We buy Chinese because they are cheap labor. When they grow a standard of living, we'll be forced to buy cheap UK again.

I'm just here to put a muzzle on your envy.

Lol, envy, of? Good sir, I can assure you that envy is not something I'm burdened with. Muzzle me? For what? Forming opinions based on factual data and a theoretical question? What do you find so personal about that?Ꮶ͜иιɢн͡т wrote:

Had you approached the matter with a little more decorum, maybe I'd have responded with a more mature reply than to bring to point your patriotic bias, for that I apologise, quite unbecoming. As it stands you seem as reluctant as ever to be anything other than arrogant and dismissive.
Getting back to point. WW3. It'll be alien invasion, and it'll be a united world fighting them off, led by Russia and China. Boom.

This fascination with fantasy war scenarios just seems like juvenile fear to me. That tendency stopped for me about 20 years ago when I joined the military. Facing reality snaps the mind clear. YMMV.

If you don't really have any evidence, we can't help you.

You can loan money to anyone. It doesn't mean they have to go bust trying to pay it back.

Think this through carefully. China invests in US loans. They give us cash. Why?
A. To have a reliable source of investment earnings.
B. To bankrupt us.
Think it through to the end. If the answer is B, we don't pay the debt. That's a win for us and a principal hit against their investments. It's a really stupid plan if that's what they intend.

Could china beat the u.s in a war?
1.3B mob vs. 300M mob...
If we went by manpower, easily.
But we have better weapons and more advanced technology...
Would make for a very interesting outcome. -
I think most of them would drown in the swim across the Pacific.
