Lifetime ban from NBA and $2.5 million fine
-
👍👍👍 What he deserves.
-
Yup
-
Hell yeah. Glad the NBA rose up and handled it in an appropriate way.

Well done NBA.
-
And they are going to try to force him to sell.
-
Appropriate response especially considering this wasn't his first offense, although there was a part of me that was hoping that the NBA did nothing. It would have been an interesting lesson in diversity for American b-ball fans to see a team with no AAs on it in last place every season.

There's a few potential buyers already lined up. Including Magic Johnson himself. Wouldn't that be a beautiful bit of irony. And they are going to try to force him to sell.

He didn't even really say anything that bad, people should just let that man live

I agree with what Mark Cuban said. Forcing him to sell for a difference of opinion (that's essentially what this is, no matter how wrong his opinion may be) opens the door for the league to kick out other owners for other reasons. And they are going to try to force him to sell.
"But regardless of your background, regardless of the history they have, if we're taking something somebody said in their home and we're trying to turn it into something that leads to you being forced to divest property in any way, shape or form, that's not the United States of America. I don't want to be part of that."

A $2.5 million fine? To most people that's a lot of money. To this clown that's just walking around money. They should have fined him more.
As for making him sell, I imagine the franchise will sell for hundreds of millions if dollars, I fail to see how that hurts him. And if I were the NAACP I certainly wouldn't give the idiot his money back, I'd make sure it went to the people he loves to hate.

If I were the NAACP, I'd also make a new award to recognize the most backwards thinking, wife cheating, low life, turd burglaring, mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, douche nozzle of the year and name it after him.

That was apparently the maximum fine, in accordance with the league owners' constitution. Estimates are the Clipper are worth around $700 million.A $2.5 million fine? To most people that's a lot of money. To this clown that's just walking around money. They should have fined him more.

This story reminds me of the Mozilla CEO that was fired by OK Cupid, a dating site, from his position as CEO because he donated a thousand dollars to anti-gaymarriage legislation six years earlier. Here are some things to think about. If ChristianMingle.com disallowed Google Chrome users from accessing their website because Google's CEO supported gay marriage, what would happen then? If Reggie Fowler made some backhanded comment about white people, would he be banned from the NFL and forced to sell his stake in the Vikings? If I got 100 people to sign a petition saying they hate you, could I get your HOA to force you to sell your house and ban you from the neighborhood?

I suppose the simple answer to all of those is that the market would decide, as it did in this case. It's all about keeping the advertisers buying advertisements or keeping customers buying products and services. The corporate spokespeople step up to the podium and tell us it's about right and wrong, but in truth it's only about the $$$.This story reminds me of the Mozilla CEO that was fired by OK Cupid, a dating site, from his position as CEO because he donated a thousand dollars to anti-gaymarriage legislation six years earlier. You're absolutely right. I just find it sickening that that is the case. It's not about who has the most support, or if something is right or wrong, it's about who has the loudest voice, and as we all know, money talks.I suppose the simple answer to all of those is that the market would decide, as it did in this case. Yep. You raise a really interesting point though that I kinda glossed over. Is the market more concerned about racial prejudice against minorities and gays than it is concerned about the reverse? I honestly don't know. There's good money to be made in either overtly or covertly exploiting prejudices in general so it's really hard to say. But as a general rule I would say that most smart corporations try to offend as few of their potential customers as possible, so I hope an AA owner would be banned in similar circumstances.★fnord★ wrote:

Why question is why did ppl wait til now to do something about it? Magic was friends with the guy, Doc signed a million dollar contract knowing hes track history.

Give me a break. If it was the other way around someone calling a white guy a cracker or white trash nothing would have been said. This society is rubbish anymore. Get over it!!

One thing is for sure, gold diggers make the world go round! 🌿👀🌿

I wonder if he'll appeal it on freedom of speech grounds or privacy laws if he was secretly recorded.

Here's an opinion you may not wanna hear but it's mine and here goes. America is too sensitive. The constitution protects us from everything but sensitivity. The government and law makers know this, so why not exploit it?? Your feelings get hurt, what do we do as a people?? We cry about it. Then we seek restitution, then usually we get it. Then we destroy a person or people lives and or livelihood. Why because we are being allowed by lawyers and law makers. It's getting out of hand in a bad way. I think this crap needs to stop and for everyone to quit being whiny pussies and mind their own business. But being a nibshit is becoming the American way. Well if you are an asshole and happen to cross my path you will hear nothing but the truth no sugar coating here. Then you can deal with hearing the truth. Like could give a damn if your feelings get hurt. Learn to mind your own.

Ask yourselves if you think white folks would tolerate this exact behavior from a prominent black owner of a baseball team in say, Minnesota or Cleveland. Telling his white girlfriend that she shouldn't bring white celebrities to games because it's bad for her reputation. Romanticizing about having a black coach authoritatively running an all white team like the Moors did in Spain. Having a history of refusing to rent his inner city slums to poor white people to the point that he faced legal action for it. You're kidding yourselves if you think Hannity wouldn't be screaming nightly for him to be banned for life from baseball, and many of you would be beating the drum right along with him like with Jeremiah Wright. And my head would be exploding because I'd be in full agreement with Hannity lol.

Silver bans Sterling - sounds ironic or some word like that...
