Have you seen this show? I love it. They take troubled teens inside prisons to try to help them turn their life around. My next question, would you put someone you love on the show?
-
Havent seen the show, but second question, yes, there are a few people, both troubled, and just starting to go down the wrong road where i would alow yo be in prision for a week just to let them understand that is not the life that they want...
-
That shit is a joke. The kids walk around during count time. If they do get to talk to inmates, it's only trustees. They don't take them back to Ad-Seg where the scary people are.
-
And I'm sure the kids aren't too put off by prison once they see that the inmates sit around all day playing SpongeBob on their Xbox 360s.
-
I work with a guy who was taken to prison for a day as a kid, back when prisons were half decent (no Xbox etc.) ... he's almost 40 now and he still talks about it occasionally. See, he was starting to go down the wrong path at the time, and it was a trip his school organised for him and a few other kids. They literally strip searched him and everything, it scared him off crime for life.
My point is, done right, a system like this can be good. But it's gotta be a real taste of hard prison - none of this mbullshit
-
Sorry. I was saying, it's gotta be a real taste of hard prison, none of this modern bullshit wannabe prison stuff with Xbox's and easy life.
Down with pussy prisons, bring back bare cells and hard beds!

Lol where are those prisons at? Both my parents and my moms new boy friend have been to prison within the last 8 years and there was no x box. Sometimes they got to watch tv but mostly they listened to the radio and played cards. And I'm sure the kids aren't too put off by prison once they see that the inmates sit around all day playing SpongeBob on their Xbox 360s.

... You should watch the ORIGINAL Scared Straight Documentary... Circa 1980.
That was hardcore, they put little smartasses in with selected prisoners for a group therapy session.... No guards... Nobody came walking out ten foot tall and bullet proof.
Check youtube... See if they gave it...

A lot of prisons are taking a more liberal approach. It works a lot better than the old ways.
I'm sure a lot of y'all have heard of West Virginia State Penitentiry aka Moundsville. That place produce many repeat offenders. It was Brutal lifestyle for inmates and officers. In 1995, they moved all inmates to a new facility, Mount Olive Correctional Complex. It is a more comfortable place, and it offers many incentive based programs and jobs to reward inmates for good behavior. The reoffending rate has dropped dramatically.
I understand that it is human nature to want to punish bad people, but sometimes we have to go against our need for revenge, and use a system that works. -
And FYI, I am no inmate lover. I hate those guys with a passion. I've had shit thrown on me, I've been spit on, pissed on, threatened, and grabbed. Deep down, I want to see those guys suffer, but it is more logical to try and fix them. After all, most of them will get out one day. Who would you want as your neighbor? A punished inmate, or a rehabilitated one?

You should be proud hillbilly! Those are some strong morals and values being tested and you still think and are apart of making the justice system and the world a better place.
🍻I commend you my friend! -
I'm unsure on this topic. I firmly believe mass murderers should be kept in jail until they die, but I understand that sex offenders and robbers WILL get out, so they need to be rehabilitated. One thing is for sure, I hate parole on life sentences. Sure, they are monitored, but many parolees commit another crime.
I also think the death penalty should be used, but only when necessary i.e. the Indiana man who killed 3 people out of jail, got arrested with a life sentence, killed an inmate with a toothbrush, killed a guard with the lining of a vent cover, then killed two guards with a Bible, soaked in his chemical toilet and wrapped in his undershirt. He couldn't get the death penalty, so he continually went back to jail and killed people. Now, he is serving the first of his 5 life sentences with no hope for parole. -
