Electrical Engineering
Forums › General Discussion › Electrical Engineering-
I am starting school Tuesday for Electrical Engineering. I was just wandering if I could get some words of wisdom from the people in the TW community who has this type of training. Is there a good method of studying electrical out there? Is there anything I should buy now to be more prepared in the future? I am told that they provide us with certain tools but wasn't informed on what tools exactly I will recieve. I would like to be the guy in class with the cool tools so let me know if there are any out there that might help me get through school. I am a maintenance tech right now and am just wanting to pursue my education to move up in my current job and maybe be the maintenance tech supervisor one day in the near future. (Current one might retire soon! Lol) the automation end of my field just seems to be more and more in demand. Again, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sorry know nothing about that. Good luck though!
And come back to Zenia! The guy who kicked you left himself 😄

A good way to see if something's live is to stick your tongue on it. Don't waste your money on fancy meters and shit.

Is this an electrical engineering pun?
I am a programmer by trade so don't have an advice but best of luck in your pursuits!

I went for power engineering. Loved the class and all the math equations. Though I didn't get a job in that field :/ haha well not yet. Sometime down the road I'll go into that field and make a career of it.

My first job was an electrical engineer,I made DC motors for the mining industry. I did an electrical and electronics course...the electronics side went completely over my head,it made it hurt rediculously. A multimeters a multimeter..buying an expensive one is just a waste,I still use a fluke pen to test live wires which saves a bundle of time

Indy, you training to do the design side of electrics or are you gonna be installing and maintaining?

Because i don't plan to stay where I am, and didn't want to start a new job to end up quitting after a short while. Once I move to where I want to, then I'll get into that field.〓 S E E K E R 〓 wrote:

I remember the codes book being over 3inches thick

Good luck . Ohms law is a must. Understand the logic of the circuits and the wiring will be a lot easier to understand and follow.
