Computer Building... Or not?

Hey guys, I've recently acquired my dads old PC, and I was wondering if I should by a new computer, or just upgrade his for half as much. I've never upgraded a computer before, so please take that into consideration. Should I upgrade, or buy?

... Try and install Ubuntu or some other Linux variation on it. Free, and a great way to get extended life out of an old PC.

Get your self a Raspberry Pi and install Linux on it. Cheap and fun to use.$25-$35

It depends on his computer and what you want to do. There may not be much you can do to his pc or you might be lucky.. In my experience, upgrades haven't made big differences. If you're stuck with a certain crappy type chip or integrated video, what's the point. If you just need a second hard disk go for it. So back to the top, it depends on what you have and what you want.

Upgrade it!
Building Computers is so much fun and you can get help nearly everywhere, if you're stuck 😉 -
Depends on certain hardware which is expensive to upgrade usually you want to know what the limitations of the mainboard are. It also depends on what you want to do with it.. If u have and older duo core either amd or intel and you want to use it for typing and internetting i would say make sure there is 4gb of memory in it and buy a 120gb ssd.. If you wanna play games buy a newer cpu, 8gb of memory a newer graphics card, ssd for the OS and a 1 or 2TB harddrive...
