Why shouldn't he intervene? Playing Devils advocate... A large majority of Ukraine is Russian. (FYI. I whole heartedly wanted to see that country fall under the EU!)

He shouldn't intervene as it's not his country... It's an internal matter and unless human rights abuses are occurring breaking international law he should stay out of it. He is an egomaniacal hypocrite who has repeatedly stopped interventions in countries which are breaking international law with human rights abuses and steps in on a country which tells him to bugger off and stop being a bully...

I think the eu has to much bloody people in it and fed up with it. England should leave the eu. Rant over eu was a good idea at the time but it's just getting fat now.

Really lot of ucraine people is not russian, only a % of polulation ( <50%). And , more important, Ukraine is not Russia. Is another country , like US invades Canada

Sigh... You people don't watch the news or maybe you just watch mainstream news which is even worse. If you do want great sources for news then I suggest you reaserch other avenues.

The Crimean Peninsula was given to the Ukraine by a former leader of the old USSR about 50 odd years ago I believe. That makes it a part of the Ukraine.

It is truly worrying times. If Putin feels like expanding Russia he would as well go for the baltic states as well and that would mean war. Finland as the closest neighbour and Sweden would as well be affected because of the strategic island of Gotland. Russia would seize that in an instant.
Hopefully this calms down, when i was stationed at Gotland some 20 years ago they calculated we would be able to hold the island for a few hours. Now, all we got left is the coastguard and less than 10 tanks if im correct- because "there Will not be a war again". Now we could hold the Gotland for minutes at best.

The whole world would be dragged into war if Putin expands, lets hope they stop this now.

I did forget to mention that the former leader in question was a Ukranian national....
If there's more I would love to hear it.

Problem is there is a signed peace accord with Russia, UK and USA (mid '90's I believe) guaranteeing the Ukraine's sovereign borders in exchange for the Ukraine disarming their nuclear arsenal...
