Which OS version of Linux is the best for someone completely new to Linux with the plans of learning coding?

^^I think the versions are not that different, so take one of the newer ones.

The most easy to use Linux I found was Mint.
Easy install & worked right away.

Depending on what you are coding there might be a specific Linux OS for developers.

Personally I have always used Backtrack & more recently Kali.
It's more for security testing but also has some good coding tools built in.

Mint is good if you want something like Windows...
If you really want coding and adventures, make a vm or buy a Raspberry pi and run Linux Server edition on it!

Like I said, my personal experience is mainly using backtrack & Kali for security testing etc.

It was only a suggestion depending on what it is he is wanting to code for.

Either way, am sure he can find something suitable for his needs.

Hey sorry I disappeared after posting was on way to work and got side tracked haha! I'll check out backtrack and kali :) thanks! Was just so many different versions I was not sure where to go :) thought these forums are pretty laid back to ask in :)
