Please if you are to have arguments please base them on semi-unrefutable fact.
Personally I vote Yes -
Uh.... What exactly is a "semi-unrefutable fact"?
-
No. They are too inter twined with the greater UK economy. What about currency? Do you make your own or rely on another country to back your dollar? And what about military? There's a lot of valuable natural resources over there that need to be defended.
-
Dont know enough about the details but if it's anything like the province of Quebec does to the rest of Canada, cry for more money , more jobs or else...... I say separate but you lose your passport, your military , your currency and the thousands of federal government Jobs ( speak of canada)

With no way of defending it. You could be invaded by Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan, and on and on. So when you do get invaded, who comes to your rescue? The UK whom you just hung out to dry? Are they going to fund a war to save a sibling that recently said screw you I'm taking the whole plate. No, it will be the Americans. Who, behind the shield of honorable intentions, will come to bail you out and stays to secure "your interests" and so begins the new world imperialism.

America has never bailed out UK.
US joined WWII when it got hit by Japan
you scots that are lookin for independence think u can rule that with no interference of England?
u want your own currency n independent state yet u have no cash n expect us to subsidise your benefits!
why else would u need to keep the queens sovereign ? -
They were running out of money and supplies.

Excuse me, ... uh, I just wanted to say that 😳
As a completely unbiased bystander, I look at you lot and all I see is a couple of packs of savage animals fighting viciously over who's going to beat who and win the bloody carcass (oil) ...
Or should I be envisioning a bunch of immature schoolchildren arguing over who can have the last gobstopper in the candy dispenser, when there's a full dispenser in the canteen ...

Scotland is stronger and better off as part of the UK. There's no real argument that can be made for independance except some nationalistic brave heart wannabes crying for freedom....

If we get independence then I believe we will be the least oppressed nation ever to get our independence. I don't see zany need for it and if we do get it I'm sure the only difference to me will be me having to fork out a few hundred quid for a Scottish passport and driving licence.

I don't think it's good! It will damage the economies of both, just things are starting to improve.
They want to keep £sterling which we don't share then they should stay.
If they go they should start their currency or go on the €Euro -

Careful what you ask for...

All the oil in North Sea would not cover Scotland's welfare bill . Fact
-
I will genuinely eat my hat if the scots vote yes to independence. UK is significantly stronger together, and Scotland alone is so much more vulnerable to economic collapse.
In fact I would genuinely be surprised if the vote was even that close, I think 65% + will vote no and put the matter to bed.
Scottish people are fierce and want their identity - but they aren't dumb

Without knowing too much of the useful stuff, if they vote yes it wouldn't bother me. About time we stopped paying for their free hospital parking and free prescriptions! Would save a fortune and maybe we could get free prescriptions instead!

Any argument for independence is poorly thought out, has no concept of the bigger picture and has no rational ideas of the future for Scotland.
Personally I'd love to stop funding Scotland's easier lifestyle, but that's not in the best interest of the Scottish population that haven't already fled their own country.
-
"Scotland's easier lifestyle"? correct me if I'm wrong, but Scotland commit through natural resources the majority of any single item to the treasury, is it any wonder why so many of us are pissed off, when there is nothing being spent in Scotland? we may get free prescriptions, which has only just happend in the last 2 years, but England take the lions share in roadtax money, to the equivalent of more than they put in, so that cancels that out.
-
As for currency, we had the pound before commuting as a kingdom, it was referred to as the Scottish pound and we traded 1:1 with England, now the threat is we have no entitlement to our own currency, where exactly is it your entitlement to keep the currency? you still question when we spend a Scottish pound in England if it doesn't say "BanK of England" on it, so let's not get hasty on the currency that's a scaremongering tactic poorly deployed to try and deceive.
-
I'm not going to say Independance is a definate answer, but what is needed is ground rules and guidlines. You think your getting a hard deal because we get free prescriptions, when we are technically paying for it... the hard deal is on us, you will want nothing to do with us when the oil runs out in 1000 years, another scaremongering tactic of, only 10years left!
-
Oil is a natural resource, natural resources are constantly forming, way underneath the formation, it will always be there, just harder to extract and that is why production has fallen as it takes longer to drill and stabilize the wells before production can even take place, we also have 2 large undeveloped fields that can't be accessed for another 10years until nuclear operations are relocated.
-
The wool isn't over my eyes, I know what we need the kingdom for and what we dont. you guys have got to understand, that you NEED Scotland to be part of the kingdom and there is no argument for you to say otherwise.
-
I'll give you a thought....
If scotland were so toxic and not needed, then why are Westminster trying so hard to keep us within the United Kingdom? Exactly, even your own government know the answer, they have been lying for years, but you have to trust them now manufacturing and making hard boiled sweets won't get you far in today's economy ;)
