The intent is good, to make you think of who you love and and show them some appreciation. It can be a seen as overly commercialized but it's up to you how far you take it. I spent $30 total. Card, small box of chocolates and small body butter for my wife and 3 red roses one for the wife, and 1 for each of my daughters.
