My problem with certain types of alliances
Forums › General Discussion › My problem with certain types of alliances-
Ok. Here's a few philosophical things I have against certain alliances.
1) every alliance claims to protect the newbie. This is unnecessary because NSA was already created to do just that and the game system itself does a fine job
2) many alliances creates safezones. I have already said many times why I feel these are bad for the game. They are also unnecessary because once again the game gas systems to protect new players -
3) alliances most generally put too much focus on protecting eachother. This in and of itself can create a type of bullying because independents in an area will be unable to compete.

Now keep in mind these are only opinions amd I am a friend to one of the biggest alliances. I'm just throwing out points in general.

Another reason I bring up this point is that these things are exactly what we are trying to avoid with desert rain.

I agree with you belial...
My big problem is the safezones. I did no mob up until people attacked my turfs. And it worked. Safezones unmotivate people to work harder. Yes, I see a need for bully protection, but that's in place through the cap limit and the "don" help

A safezone is merely a label a group of mobsters puts on a high income area. It means zilch if they can't defend/enforce it. It is well defended for the sole reason that the earning potential there is very high...and, yes, turfs have been layered in tightly to create that income. I think that's a concept most are familiar with--even those "against" safezones. Everyone tends to play stronger defense for those areas because of that higher income. You can call it what you like but I think there is a bias against safezones simply because the word "safe" is in the title. They aren't necessarily always any safer than anywhere else. And they aren't any different from any other well defended or policed income pile. If they were simply created and maintained, no one would have and issue is they were, say, called an income chain.
-
A safezone is only "safe" until someone starts capping people in it. If you don't like them, ignore them.

'cause now that I think about it I pretty much have a fuck off attitude about all my turf no matter where it is. Yes, it gets capped. Healthily on occasion. But the object of the game is to avoid that whenever possible unless it helps you acheive some other objective is it not? No matter where you are. As for safety in safe zones, Jim Dirt has hit the nail on the head.

I recently had to drop all my turf to 1inf to destroy a rogue player in Melbourne. What I found were a lot of players that had been playing for months with 1K mobs but with billions in the bank.... As soon as there was an issue, these 'fat' players called on the larger players to bail them out. If your not fighting why play, it becomes bank wars otherwise. I am begininning to disagree with safe zones in a cbd or certain district but rather what chainsaw did in protecting any player with a low level... I'm sick of high level low mob players that just leech...

I do agree that the only reason for the bankroll is to fund your escapades...why have the cash if you plan to do nothing with it? So, while I do have turf in these safezones I go broke in game on a regular basis--several times each week for the last month in fact--tearing through the Texas countryside.

I have to disagree with point 1 when I first started my second or third day in I was being capped and attacked like crazy and the don never helped me, I had to seek help from others

v is hardly a bully. It's a game of expansion grim. Players like v are merely expanding which is what the game is about. Besides you know I have more mob than v right? Just because you guys are used to my gameplay style in which I hardly ever expand doesn't mean those who play the other style are bullies

Truth in that. Players in a safe zone are only safe form players that recognize and support the safe zone.
I see nothing wrong is a few players want to start a safe zone and not cap each other. But they need to understand, not everyone is going to feel the same way, and they can not impose their will on others.
They can, however, use game tactics against players the do not recognize their safe zones.
I do still believe in protection of noobs. And I would not be against setting up "noob" safe zones if there was enough new players in an area and they could all get to the same place to grow and play the game in it's intended spirit against each other till they hit a certain level. Then they move up and out.
Sort of like a TW boot camp.

You can have max income turf in a war zone with enough players. and IMO, any area of max income should be a war zone, not a safe zone.

I agree with the protecting each other. What if there's a guy you can beat in a alliance? Well, you can even touch him cause you'll have the big guys come in...

You're right about this...truly active war zones are high income earners. I have no fundamental problem with that at all. Neither do I have a problem with all areas being active war zones. I'd far prefer that. It gets too damn boring sometimes and you have to go off and make fun elsewhere. I do, however, find it interesting that people like to whine about the absurdity of "safezones" calling them turf farms while they have their own little turf piles sitting prettily in their own corners of the world that they maintain and protect in their own ways. It's a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black. -
