Ice cream doesn't melt in the car🍨

There are good things about the winter too. Take advantage of them.

Snow? Snow?!

The sun is drying the grass into shrivelled, burnt stalks, the cattle troughs are half empty all day as the cows drink desperately. Dust puffs out from beneath your boots as you walk across the dusty yard and gaze down the track at the dry lake where only months ago you were fishing for redfin and trout out of the farm tinny.

There is no snow. Not even in the wet season do you see snow. It's either dry, cracked paddocks, or sheltering from the fury of the rain that lasts for a month each year - if you're lucky, that is. And it's always hot. Even when it's raining.

Sometimes, the rain, it never comes. The sun keeps on blazing down, bleaching the bones of your dead livestock and driving you to breaking point. The water tanks empty, rivers and lakes all dry, you wish deep inside that you lived somewhere that it snowed.
