Importance of propper punctuation
Forums › General Discussion › Importance of propper punctuation-
Seems like the good times for the grammar nazi's is over, or they just gave up, but the Importance of propper punctuation, or lack thereof, can turn out to be deadly.
Allow me to give an example:
Dinner is ready, so granddaughter says:
"Lets eat, grandpa."
Now if you read this, there is nothing wrong with the above. However, missing an important komma will prove deadly for dear old grandpa:
"Lets eat grandpa"
One little komma, missing, and dear old grandpa turns from beeing just dear old grandpa, into straight dinner.
Anyone else got examples like the above?
Deadly, funny or even hilarious, post them here and share those typo's! -
Ps, engrish is not my native language, but i try to use punctuation and mind my spelling as much as i can. ( that is if that frikking autocorrect doesnt change words without me noticing them!)

I believe that as the title given to certain individual/s, it should be written thus (as a proper noun): Grammar Nazis.

There, their, they're, settle down.

There is another problem in the emphasis of words. I'm not sure what the proper term is, but here is an example.
Say your on a job interview and you ask the guy; "So what do you do here?"
If the emphasis is on the word "what", he might explain the business model and goals. But if the emphasis is on the word "you", he might tell you about his own day to day interactions.
I find that some people don't always use the right tone of voice and come across with the wrong message. But that might just be me. I'm married. -
What bothers me is the lack of full words. For example with texting: c u l8r
It's only a few more letters!!! Stop being lazy! -
Capitalization is always important. It can mean the difference of helping your Uncle Jack off a horse or helping your uncle jack off a horse.

They both lead into a total other context, by just changing a few bits here and there...
The one more hilarious/serious than the other. And tuwfa...
Shoo.
Be gone you pest 💩💨 🙊. 👋 -
I think Das hyena overworked them

I think grammar should be used at all times. Except Snapchat when you can't make it fit. American Education will only decrease if we continue to talk like this.

"Let's eat out, grandma."
"Let's eat out grandma."
That comma makes a big difference if you ask me😜

This is Officer Skysurfers iPhone and Fartex you have been pulled over for a warning ticket .
Without Siri, I can't even spell. Some things are out of our control and I find nazis can figure out a sentence even through my past typing .
Relax.
That said, I still absolutely adore you.

This is by no means a thread related to be a grammar nazi Sara. First of all, like that backstaffer tuw-fwa pointes out, i make spelling mistakes myself, so im in no position to be a member of the spelling police.Example like the one wegsies showed is exactly what i mean. Allow me to give you another one:
Lets eat, grandpa....
Lets eat grandpa...
See what i mean?
And lastly, to give another one:
Im cute as candy...
Im cute ass candy...
Hope i made my point for you 😊
This is simply a thread to point out how a simple mistake changes the meaning of a sentence totally.

So even as I watch him whip gravel off the side of the road, he called me a nazi, didn't use a hyphen, AND gave me the finger?

Grammar Nazis doesn't have an apostrophe (Nazi's is incorrect). The apostrophe indicates ownership or a contraction: adding the letter 's' to a word to turn it plural does not require the apostrophe.
The symbol ; has a name: it is called a semicolon. And you are incorrect: the colon that Fartex used after the word example was in fact correct.
