CMS. Often regarded as one of the greatest alliances to play the game, CMS was home to a number of the games most infamous and most powerful players. Chucky Pancamo and Fallacy caught up with long time member, and yet ironically non-fighter, dudeness👊🔨💀, to discuss his near 4 years of gameplay.
FAL: Can you tell tells us what brought you to TW? How did you find the game?
-
Dude: May, 2010 I got my first iPad and it only had wi-fi. I was heading to a flight shortly after so pulled out the device to find something to pass the time. I saw the TW app, and it looked interesting. Downloaded it, thinking it'd keep me entertained on the plane. Sat 3 hours on that flight with an expensive tablet with no wi-fi. Bastages! A couple days later, I picked up the tablet, saw the game, opened it and became a captive.
CP: You have turf in many unique areas. This is the internet, basically, so I'm not going to ask you your social and mother's maiden name, but am curious if you travel extensively for business or pleasure?
Dude: I travel extensively. And with exception of two locales which I used TW plane tickets to participate in CMS activity, all my original turf were planted by physically being somewhere. Sadly, is there are great places, such as South Sudan or Kandahar, I've not been able to plant because of no connectivity or goofy Google map issues. -
CP: If business, how much are you willing to tell us about what you do?
Dude: I'm happy to tell you, but then I'd have to kill you and there are too many loyal Turf Tales News readers for me to get to and so little time!
CP: Was it you who found and captured Sadam Hussien?
Dude: As South Park's mall cops say, "just move along, sir."
CP: Are you DB Cooper? Did you keep at least 1 of the 20's as a souvenir or did you spend it all on booze and strippers? If you were DB Cooper, would you save 1 of the 20's or spend them all on booze and hookers?
Dude: Booze and hookers! What good are assets if you can't or don't use them for benefit of friends and family!
CP: What are your favorite hops?
Dude: I don't really hop except to expand in a city or locale I've planted in. But the trail I hope remains untouched in the game is the trail that ends in Abbottabad. It has great meaning to many.
CP: Any favorite Capos or unique places you're most proud to have turf?
-
Dude: No favorites as all of them remind me of someplace I've been. But it's always a good feeling to be the first to create a turf on behalf of TW in a place no one's been.
CP: You sport old CMS tags, but have under 30,000 total fights, you don't seem particularly aggressive, any one reason you've chosen a more peaceful role in the game?
Dude: My real life is pretty intense enough and it was the GPS aspect of TW that caught me rather than fighting. The CMS crew were incredibly generous in welcoming me in. And when you get in a fight, particularly on a team, you can't let your crew down by not being there all the time. Semper Fi, always loyal. It's why I still fly the colors. If anyone of them ever asked for an assist to this day, I'd do all I could to help. I think many of them knew early on that RL would keep me from being valuable as a regular fighter. So I tried to find other roles to help.
-
FAL: are you still in contact with many of the old CMS crew?
Dude: Yup yup. Every one brags on their crew, but when one thinks of all the folks who've come and gone in CMS, they've got to be some of the smartest, funniest, balanced folks one could meet in a virtual world. Beim does a good job trying to provide venues for folks to stay in touch.
CP: Who is the player you like least?
Dude: I don't think there is one. Though I received a pretty good beat down from Thuglife when I started out. And in the forums, Belial's randomly circular logic always drove me nuts, but I wouldn't say I didn't like him.
CP: Who would be a player you admire? What did you learn from them?
-
Dude: Brown Note for teaching me the game and bringing me into CMS; Das, Hacksaw, Big Jake, Xambler for war strategy and battle intensity but always having fun; Bugs for being a bad-ass bunny; Ice-Pick for validating I don't have the time to consistently fight; the Parker Brothers for forcing me to learn if I didn't have time to fight consistently, then I needed to punch codes to be big enough that most folks would leave me alone;
-
The Man because he plays the game his own way, hates TW airports and has a secret Gas Day bromance; Fallacy for caring enough about the community to produce the news; Viper who has taught us all the value of car bombs and staying out of his front yard; Mickey Dunn for reminding one that there's always someone bigger on the playground, but you don't have to be a bully; Bella for reminding us all that proper grammar and spelling are a good thing; Johnny O and JmanX for being courteous to a new player. I know I'm leaving many out, and my respect to them all. I've learned something from just about everyone I've come in contact with in the game.
-
CP: What's your best advice for up and comers who may be interested more in the hopping and turf collecting than warring aspect of the game?
Dude: As players older and wiser than me have said, the right way to play the game is the way you like best. But if you're going to go the peaceful route, punch codes so you can always defend yourself; introduce yourself to bigger players and capos when you enter a new area; if you try to mediate battles, listen to both sides and verify what they tell you before choosing a role; don't be a troll or use foul language on the forums. And never, ever use the "R" word.
-
FAL: have you given any though to joining a new alliance or getting involved in one of the major wars on the map?
Dude: Never say never, but at the moment, I don't envision a scenario that would draw me in. Besides, I would never use DPs to drop my colors if I could spend them on turf limit!

Rumor mill:

〓Shrinut〓 resets! Why?
After about two years of turfing and a 15K mob, Shrinut reset. When asked why, he explained that he simply lost interest. Shrinut retired for a while and eventually decided to "nip the bud" with finality. With reassurances that he will
still be on pal and read the forums, it appears the Turf Wars community hasn't seen the last of this turfer! -
