War!! The Witching Hour War
Disclaimer: This article is written solely from my perspective. Since TC refuses to provide comments or opinions on the war, I have decided to exclude comments from Stars or Capo. All the information in this article is based on observations that I have made thus far. Am I biased? I guess that is up to you to decide. However, I believe I have the ability to provide accurate and unbiased News from around the community. Furthermore, I feel that to not report one the largest battle in recent history is a disservice to the community and contrary to the values and spirit of the TTnews.

The Beginning:
It all started on October 31st, 2013. It was Halloween, witching hour had passed, and a mass attack was about to be executed on a world wide scale. As the clock rolled past 8:00pm est., a mass barrage of attacks were unleashed. The target was The Commission, the aggressors were the STARS and elements of CAPO, the Massholes and CMS alliances. While it is hard to pinpoint any 1 particular cause or reason (psst: blame Saba) for the current conflict, it can be generally stated that tensions between TC and several of their traditional allies had reached the tipping point. With historic enemies TWFC and CMS all but defunct, it seemed like only a matter of time before war between groups within the “World Alliance” would ensue…
-
Week 1-2
After the initial attack, players from both sides began to be knocked out of airports, states, countries and even continents. The first 2 weeks can be described as generally unorganized, as players scrambled to plant safeties or hunt down opposition in close proximity. Hot spots included Vegas, Stockholm, Houston, Chicago, Florida, and many more scattered skirmishes across the globe. Both sides saw players drop tags, reset, and otherwise drop from the war.
-
As the Battle matured…
As the fight continued, both sides experienced ups and downs. TC would gain a number of new members as former (and new) allies joined their cause. Notable players from the Texas Syndicate Alliance such as The Greek and Dragon as well as a number of solo players such as Funky Buffalo and Amarrazo would dawn tags and join the fray. On the opposite side of the war, the Stars, CAPO and CMS fighters would be joined by elements of The Firm (Stealth Force), FUA, former TWFC members, as well as independent or late comers, such as GMAN, and Viper, both adding heavy guns and map coverage.
-
Both sides experience setbacks…
As the battle raged, vast resources were spent on spam and stam. TC would lose a number of veteran fighters as they decided to exit the war. Venom and The Greek were notable exits, although several small and midsized players also quit and reset, including the well like The Punk, Juvat, and Maybe Katie. Working in TC’s favor, however, long time enemy Ms. Daisy and her crew which includes RLMON, Midnite, Gameplan, Prof. Manacles as well as others, would enter into an agreement with TC, and open a new front against CAPO in Ontario.
-
Conversely, the Ontario warfront would take a number of CAPO fighters away from the war on TC as their attention now shifted. In addition to this new threat, a number of unexpected resets would strike a blow to the group fighting TC. Tally and Cromag, two of the most experienced and fiercest fighters would reset in late December. A number of other earlier resets, including Piccasso and The Bassist are also noted. Other complications have included sticky political work and trying to gain temporary cease fires in select areas between former/current TWFC, CMS, FUA and some of their traditional enemies whom are not participants in the war.
-
On the resets….
Losing turf would never cause a vetted fighter to quit. The majority of the resets have been by largely inactive players that were at the end of their career and ready to hang up the gloves – this was certainly the case for Piccasso and The Bassist.
As the battle wears on…
The hectic scramble of the earlier weeks has evolved in more traditional war lines as the groups fight for individual areas. Vegas has become the central battle, with TC occupying the city centre and airport, while their collective enemies have developed a line surrounding same. Smaller scale skirmishes continue to be fought in various areas, while the recent airport openings have drawn groups to new locations, such as TC’s recent rallying of members in Italy.
-
By the numbers…
The war has now been fought for close to 11 weeks. There are well over 100 participants currently involved in the fighting, including many of the games largest players. Off the mob leaderboard, Viper, Johnny O, Bugs Bunny The Don, Groucho, Macas, T-Rex, Maverick, Sabassual, Big Jake, Sinister Vtech, BigRedVee6, Taz, Gman, Rudgicus, Zoom, and Swamp Donkey have all actively participated in the war at one time or another. While stats were not provided by the TC side, the stats I have seen personally are absolutely staggering. During the first month of battle alone, the Stars, Capo, CMS etc, group capped over 90,000 turf - of that a shocking 5,000 was capped single handily by Maverick. While a cumulative total from both sides for the entire battle thus far is unavailable, I would have to speculate that it is well past 250k.
-
Who’s Winning…
If you were to ask a member of either side, I am quite certain they would say "their side is winning". Both sides can point to individual achievements and individual victories, but for the time being the war is not over and a victor had not been determined. I give Kudo’s to TC for being an organized fighting group which is a tough nut to crack. That being said, I would argue that the stars, capo, etc side has gained and holds more ground. One thing, however is certain, and that is the war is nowhere near to ending. As one very large (neutral) player said to me, “both sides are too big to fail”.

〓MrsVWTech〓 and FAL
were honored to have the Big Man, Chucky Pancamo spill his TW history with us. Congrats Chucky on your TW achievements. Level 150, 90 K mob, 1 million fights and two years of playing TW! Way to go!MVW: What inspired you to download and play Turf Wars?
CP: My New Year's resolution for 2012 was to quit smoking. I decided to stay out of the office for the first week of the year. Bored out of my mind, and pissed at the world, I looked for new aps, came across TW. I haven't smoked since. Wasting money on fake guns and fake circles is about as pointless, but doesn't make the car stink.
MVW: Congrats on quitting smoking!! That is not an easy thing to do! What were your original goals for TW? And what are your current goals?
-
CP: My first goal was turf in 49 states. Never reached that. Goals have since changed often, usually centered around beating a specific player or alliance, knocking them out of somewhere. I do have one specific goal presently, but I am not saying at the moment. 😷
Fal: Who have been your greatest mentors?
CP: Don Vito Corleone and Bella
MVW: What was the best advice given to you from DVC and Bella?
CP: Bella taught me that respect of your peers/other players doesn't come from your mob, brens or turf count. It comes from your contributions to the community. DVC taught me to have fun fighting. My capos, my bagmen, my airport turf, to have fun fighting, you can't view it as "your" turf, you can't be concerned with losing it. Turf are like checkers- I use mine to take yours and keep you form getting mine. Whomever has some left at the end wins. Both taught me that local and personal connections (although I have never met a turfer in person) are more important than the game.
-
MVW: What is your most memorable experience playing TW?
CP: Three stand out. Certainly Shanghai. Several people made multiple attempts to take an island of approx. 15,000 turf from CMS. Some CMS didn't play much, but after catching a small window of no active vendettas on me, I snuck on and held out 24 hours, prompting Biker, Lucky, Xambler, Cromag (who had briefly "retired") to buy weapons and join vendettas. It was a unique battle because the full and confined space made ranging and spamming largely irrelevant. It boiled down to strength against strength, many allies joined and started counter v's. Ultimately our side managed to overpower them. We viewed that island as a primary resource for CMS to generate income for spamming, taking it from them was a long-term goal, which could not have been done without the contributions of too many players to list here. In fairness, several of CMS had retired/lost interest. I'm not sure they could have been beaten had they put forth their best effort.
-
Beating CMS and TWFC in Los Angeles is quite memorable. On paper, we were vastly overmatched. We persevered.
By far my fondest memories are the 3-4 months prior to the LA war, prior to me being invited to join BAIC, for weeks Petinc, Don Vito Corleone and I were in vendettas against Big Jake. Shared a lot of great late night conversations with those two, and Jake is a fun, skilled and classy opponent.
Fal: Who has been your biggest opponent?
CP: Sinister Vtec. I actually fought Vtec very little, relatively, but IMO, only Bugs is a better player. Das was very tough and smart, but Vtec did more with less.
Fal: So, what made Chucky the monster he is today?CP: A poor childhood, being an only child raised by an alcoholic mother after dad left her for his secretary. Years of recreational use of hallucinogenics. Multiple other personal and social shortcomings, including and smaller than average penile unit.
-
Fal: How much money have you spent on TW?
CP: Slightly less than 2 years of membership at the Torrey Pines Golf Club. And I can play TW in the rain.
MVW: A few weeks back, you offered to help me with teaching players how to range (which nobody took advantage of). Do you often help smaller players with learning the ins and outs of the game?
CP: I don't have a lot of patience. I'd like to hope some people learned a few things from me, but in reality, I probably get annoyed if they don't catch on right away. Also, I recall how intimidating big players were when I was small, I suspect some people I could and would help are hesitant to ask. Mickey Dunn has written the most complete new player guide. I frequently refer players to that. I couldn't possibly improve it, and Dunn is much more experienced and friendly than I am. I've played the game les than half the time it has been out, many have far more to offer than I.
-
MVW: How often do you gest asked, "how did you get so big?" (or anything along those lines)?
CP: Very. A typical exchange from yesterday.

How did you get so many mobsters?
19 hours agoDELETE REPLYYOU says:
I punched all the codes on invitecodematrix and a couple of other sites that aren't around anymore. Plus bought some henchmen. The best thing to do is punch every temp code on invitecodematrix, then start working your way through the regular codes. Temps are added several times a day, do your best to stay current.
18 hours agoDELETEMVW: Do you think TW is dying out?
CP: I don't have a clue. I see 3 plus year old posts talking about how this or that will be the end of Turf Wars. Obviously they didn't know what the hell they were talking about and I have no reason to think I would either.
-
MVW: What, in your eyes, could be done to improve the game and keep it alive?
CP: My longest running complaint is that things like attack and defense upgrades are presented by the game in a manner that implies they have equal value to the income upgrades or stamina and energy. Certainly frustrating to find out you've wasted them, or reduced your income pointlessly. I disagree with the communities' conventional wisdom that loot is fair game. Certainly amongst established players, but as a noob losing one's most profitable property to a vastly larger player is extremely demoralizing.
Fal: What is the future of TW?
CP: Sabasaul eventually getting enough PM's from people willing to beta test for Android to get Turf Wars into Google Play.
-
MVW: What is your best advice for up and coming players?
CP: Contact Sabasaul, he is looking for Android Beta Testers. An android device is not needed, new players with I-devices are needed for smooth integrations.
When you loot your first car bomb, go to top mobsters by influence, find Viper. Find a turf greater than 120 influence in his list. Tap use item, and the car bomb.Thank You Chucky!! It was a great pleasure to get to know you! Congratulations on your milestones!

"Flowers" explained:
Typically player A is over turf limit, maybe has limited options for capping turf around him (people have big friends, stuck in remote locations, mostly bigger mobs around, avoiding inactives, etc.)
Typically player B is under his build limit, but has fairly low income.
With a "flower" player B builds 6+ turf in a tight pattern, and one in the middle. Player A caps all but the center. The benefit to player A is he has 6 turf generating about 1/3-2/3 full income. Since he's over limit, the number of turf don't matter to him.
The benefit to player B is the 1 turf he retains makes 3 to 8 times the income of one regular turf, keeping him under limit, with disproportionally high income from less turf. The community frowns on this when mules (additional accounts controlled by the same person to benefit the main account) are involved.
-
Often times alliances will build "gardens" or "farms", designating one or more members of the alliance to cap & retain the turf, while others build. These areas are usually heavily guarded, invite-only.
So as a solo player, can you get in on this flower action? Probably, you need to be under your turf limit and near and able to be capped by someone who is interested in making flowers with you. Look around your areas, politely PM the people who look to be willing to make flowers. If you are told no or don't hear back, ask someone else.
So, what are the downsides? Be aware, not everyone who plays turf wars supports the flower concept! Your turf can and likely will at some point become targets. Another downside is the possibility that the player you worked with wants to get under limit, and tears down or transfers the turf you were taxing.- Chucky Pancamo

Nomads and Pax merge
It was confirmed earlier this week that the Nomads alliance and Pax alliance have merged. The nomads, who's members include players such as The Saint, Preacher, Yogi (and others) have joined Pax, a group run by Slacker (formerly Pimp).
Belial suffers devastating debate loss..
The long time debate king, Belial, suffered a devastating and decisive loss earlier this week. The showdown occurred in the Turf Tales News room as Belial promoted an intense debate on one of his favorite topics, religion. While the final blow was struck by subersticky, who pointed out that Bels arguments were blah blah blah-sphemy, a number of others contributed to his demise.
