Hey semi, how long you been driving trucks? Someone once told me that if you drive truck long enough you'll probably end up killing someone. Not though the truckers fault but almost always because of the other driver. It sounded plausible at the time but the guy is a known BSer so I have my doubts. What do you think?

Only 6-7 months. And usually the four wheelers fault. They think we can stop on a dime so they get right in front of us. We Ned at least 580 feet to come to a complete stop.Hey semi, how long you been driving trucks? Someone once told me that if you drive truck long enough you'll probably end up killing someone. My uncle had a carful of teens rear end his truck. Doing about 100 on a roller coaster road. Not his fault at all but shook him up pretty bad.
-
Been driving trucks now for twelve years and only had 1 serious crash when a car hit another car the came onto my side of the road scary stuff but everyone was ok
-
We have a lot more to pay attention to than people think we do.

I heard a good story just last night. A snow storm closed the freeway in a southern state because of a couple inches of snow, but they were waving wisconsin and Minnesota drivers through. :)
-
Trucks are becoming safer all the time. Our new trucks come with Vorad sensors to alert drivers of things in our blind spots. They also come with a automatic breaking system just like some new cars. With the new system it also alerts the Saftey department of unsafe driving such as( hard breaking taking turns to fast or speeding).
-
I don't want auto-brake, I think it adds risks personally.
-
Iv never used it. I drive a little yard truck now for deliveries to DC and Philly area. I was OTR for 10 with my mil under my belt.
-
What's the furthest you guys have driven in a day? Can you earn an iron butt award? :)
-
Most I can go a day is 715 if I am hooked to a catheter and colostomy bag. I'm governed at 65mph.
-
I'd say my two longest runs I made streight were Chicago to Waco TX and Baltimore to Houston. I owned a W900 with a 550 CAT and a 18DO pulling a skateboard.
-
I wanna stop at Bosselmans on I80 in NE, but I'm too low on hours.

My old man has been driving trucks for years now. I remember him coming home with many stories to tell.
One time driving log trucks he was on a muddy road in the mountains and his fully loaded truck began sliding as he crawled up a steep hill. It stopped with 5 wheels hanging over a cliff 600meters high. They ended up using 2 logging machines to snig him back onto the track. He quit a few weeks later, said putting his life in danger wasn't worth it - I think mum had a lot to do with his quitting that job.
Another time driving through the city, after indicating for a good minute he changed lanes. Turned out a car was in his blind spot the whole time, and he hit the rear quarter panel. Fortunately the woman driver was married to a truck driver and knew her mistake ... but it was too late. He pushed her sideways for 100 meters before he managed to safely slow down without her shooting out into other traffic.
-
I always used to listen with fascination to the stories he told each night. I'd love to drive trucks myself, but the laws have changed since he got his licence. Now I need to wait years to upgrade my car licence to medium rigid and then heavy combination (semi). Bullshit red-tape regulations.
Have fun mate and stay safe!

My scariest ride was running out of Sacramento Cali to a little town north of donner pass called Quincy. Four lanes up the mountain half a lane down into the gorge. It was snowing like hell and I was empty. I was drawed up tighter than a knats ass.
-
I hate the "State Roads" in Arkansas.
-
Well, I just got fired. I've been working for them for two months and they're just now saying shit about my MVR.

What is wrong with your record? I was looking into getting my license a few years ago and found out I couldn't because of my record. In MI at least they look back 3 years for somethings and 5 for others.
-
Who were you pulling for?
-
Werner Dedicated.
And I rolled my personal two years ago -
They cut you loose for a car accident?WTF
