Great man or terrorist leader!

It's very sad, he's been ill for a long time. I'm sure the World will mourn his passing

He tried peaceful ways for decades, frustrations at the abuse and injustice of the racist whites in charge pushed him over. Even then he targeted military and infrastructure in such a way as to limit any loss of life. Better than many warriors fighting these days in my opinion....Great man or terrorist leader!
RIP dude, may people stand for what's right not just what's right for them.

Did fight for a good cause, but still a terrorist, shouldn't be treated any differently.

Not saying he was a bad person, he was an excellent person, but I don't think he should be put on a pedestal quite the way he is. Whether or not he was fighting the bad guys doesn't exclude the fact that he lead to people being killed.CͣAͩNͩINE wrote:

Look up the definition of terrorist. He didn't do these things in order to instill fear into his opponents. He was just trying to make the world a better place.Dunlap2041 wrote:

👆 nobody is a terrorist because they want the world to be worse off, terrorists fight for what they believe, just because he changed the world for the better in many peoples eyes (including my own), doesnt make a difference, just how i feel.

There is a significant difference between a terrorist and a revolutionary.
A terrorists target civilians with the purpose of causing fear. The terrorist expects this fear will cause the citizens to petition their government to give into the terrorist's demands so the attacks will end.
A revolutionary inspires the citizens to join their cause. Revolutionaries also target government institutions and the in some cases the military. Revolutionaries can, and sometimes do, give into deplorable measures.
Nelson Mandela was a revolutionary. He targeted the goverement and it's institutions. He used violence, but on a manner to avoid civilian casualties.
What makes Mandela great is that when he came into power he did not become a tyrant. Instead he reached out to his former oppressors and sought reconciliation.

The leader of the ANC/SACP is not a terrorist? Haha ok. Good one. We can all ignore the video footage of him singing the ANC/MK genocide song about killing whites too then.

If you read all that is on this page and believe it, how can you call this man a terrorist? Im in the camp of revolutionary leader!

"Our men are armed and trained freedom fighters not terrorists.
We are fighting for democracy—majority rule—the right of the Africans to rule Africa.
We are fighting for a South Africa in which there will be peace and harmony and equal rights for all people.
We are not racialists, as the white oppressors are. The African National Congress has a message of freedom for all who live in our country."
RIP Nelson Mandela

Those words are thrown around too often these days by right-wingers. More fuel to the fire: Che = revolutionary. Carlos the Jackal = terrorist.
Nelson Mandela was a great man who made tectonic changes in his own country and in the world. Very sad to hear of his passing. RIP.

👆👆tell that to the farmers whose fields were destroyed and houses burned, daughters raped and sons tortured by ANC/MK. If you remember correctly, instead of reading wiki pages filled with garbage, not only were pleas from these farmers shown live on international television at the time but there was also nothing done to help them before the electrified fences shut down. I dont recall those families being "white oppressors or right wingers" but they were all slaughtered. And yes mandela was in fact the leader at the time and was in fact on the Terrorist watch list in many countries.

Because the only acceptable resistance allowed to the black man is some form of Christ-like, passive, civil disobedience even in the face of zero freedom and general dehumanization. Right.
The designation of terrorist organization was given by Reagan based on ANC's Marxist affiliations - by the same guy who passed the Mulford Act in '67 urging gun control only so that he'd prevent the Black Panthers from arming and defending themselves in the face of racial violence. The man who barred Angela Davis from teaching in California because she was a member of the Communist Party. Excuse me if I don't buy that man's designations of what constitutes "terrorism."
We the righteous should be allowed to beat, humiliate and murder any population in the world. If they try to defend themselves, we will re-brand their conventional warfare tactics as "terrorism" and "genocide."

👆 really? Take the Israel-palestine conflict, this caused the creation of the PLO, would you then say that the PLO was not a terrorist organisation?
