Icy roads suck!

It took me 90 minutes to take my son to school this morning! A drive that normally takes 25 minutes! I got stuck 4 times! Three of which I had to wait for help to get unstuck!

Turn the knob to 4WD!

Haha! Try Colorado... And I drive a dang minivan. They don't come with 4WD (they should!)

Actually some do, but it's called all-wheel drive. It's not made for off-roading but it is for the icky road conditions. Main comparison, AWD is controlled by belts and 4WD is driven by a timing chain-type system. Not nearly as heavy duty, but an adequate system for the SMT vehicles.Haha! Try Colorado... On a normal day takes me 20min to get to work bad traffic day 30. In today's ICE HELL took me hr and a half. My first adventure was just down my block no traction at all. As I entered the main road I was met with a wall of cars, with stop and go all the way to work and doing my best to not slide on the frozen lake beneith my tires and multiple close calls I saw accident right out my office window 2 min after arriving. Lucky for a no parking signe the cars in are parking lot were saved. Funny thing is as the to involved in the accident argued out front I was armed with my iPhone to catch the action if any happened LOL non did.

Denver area. Not sure how Vail is doing. This was our first decent storm of the season.

The Toyota Sienna comes with, or at least it did in 2007, an all wheel drive option. We live in North Dakota, it gets us around fine. Of course you can't "lock" it into four wheel drive, but I'm not off roading with it either.Haha! Try Colorado... And I drive a dang minivan. They don't come with 4WD (they should!)

4 wheel drive won't keep you out of the ditch, but it makes it easier to get out of the ditch.

I used to have an AWD Toyota Previa. That thing was great on ice and up to six inches of snow. I traded it in on a sienna, big mistake. Wish I still had that egg shaped previa.〓 M A T G I E 〓 wrote:

Now I daily a suzuki samurai. That thing will go through anything but kinda sucks on ice. Short wheel base = 360s.

My wife and I own a Toyota RAV4. It's full time AWD, but can be locked into 4WD if needed (e.g., if you get stuck). We are a skiing family, and this vehicle gets us through the chain gates every time. No worries.

You think your roads are bad...

Do you mean it has differential-lock that you can switch on when needed? (Even a full-time 4WD only drives with 2 wheels if it doesn't have diff-locks. One front and one back wheel.)

I grew up in the Midwest, so I have 24 years of experience with all that. For the life of me, I don't understand why people put up with snow and ice. I moved to Phoenix ten years ago, and can't imagine ever moving to a place where I have to deal with it. No way!
